Open Post: Hosted By Tom Hardy’s Sweet Tribute To His Late Dog

June 9, 2017 / Posted by:

WARNING: This is the saddest Open Post since that time I actually made a full-on post out of a 43-second video of a kitten playing with a cigarette. But this is a different kind of sad.

Nearly three years ago, those of us with cold dead insides felt a strange, unnatural feeling called “warmnessas we looked at pictures of Tom Hardy kissing and playing with his dog Woody Woodstock Yamaduki Hardy on the set of Legend in London. Well, fellow dead insiders, prepare to feel emotions again, because Woody is now in heaven. The Tom Hardy fan Tumblr TomHardyDotOrg posted the tears-summoning tribute and obit he wrote for his friend.

Woody was 11 weeks old when Tom saved him from the streets of Peachtree City, GA one night. Tom was in Atlanta to shoot Lawless. Woody quickly went from stray to first-class traveler of the world. Woody traveled everywhere with Tom as he shot movies. Woody Hardy also became a star himself and was #73 on Time’s Most Influential Animals List. A few days ago, Woody went off to the great beyond after dying from polymyositis. He was only 6.

You can read Tom’s full tribute to Woody Hardy here, but below is the part that really tugged and broke the heartstrings I didn’t know I had.

To the bestest friend ever. To me and to a family who loved him beyond words and whom he loved without doubt more than I have ever known. Woody was the bestest of journey companions we ever could dream of having. Our souls intertwined forever.

A friend told me

He was special bro, a shining example of man’s best friend. He burnt very very bright and, those that burn very bright sometimes burn half as long.

Thank you Woody for choosing to find us. We will love you and be with you and you with us forever. Never ever ever forgotten. Your Boy tom xxx I love you beyond words. To the moon and back again and again to infinity and beyond. Run with Max now and the Angels. I will see you when I get there.
With all of me I love you. Always.

Thank you for your love, beautiful boy.

Tom also made this slideshow starring his furry soulmate:

You may want to bookmark that video on your phone. Because the next time you’re drunk dancing at a wedding and Young Hearts Run Free comes on, your relatives may wonder why you suddenly sat down and got sad. Show them that video and their asses should understand.
