Miley Cyrus Says “I Kissed A Girl” Is About Her
Miley Cyrus recently admitted during an appearance on the Cubby and Carolina Show (via Vanity Fair) that Katy Perry is her longest friendship. And how did their friendship start? According to Miley, it started after Katy wrote I Kissed A Girl about her.
Miley says that not only was I Kissed A Girl written about her, but it was also the beginning of her do-shit-for-attention phase.
“She’s been a friend of mine for a really long time. We were actually just realizing the other day that next year, we’ll have been friends for 10 years. I think that’s my friend that I’ve known the longest. Which is really, really weird.
When [Perry] came out with I Kissed a Girl, I was doing the Hannah Montana movie, and I heard her on the radio. They said, ‘Who did you write that about?’ She said me! I screamed and started freaking out, and then she asked me to go to the VMAs with her. That’s when I started doing my whole VMA controversy. I was like, ‘I’ll go with Katy Perry!’ So that’s how we met and we just stayed friends.”
Miley should have taken a quick break from her volunteer joint-rolling to do some fact-checking before she told that story. If she did, she might have learned that I Kissed A Girl probably wasn’t written about her. Katy claimed a while ago that it’s about Scarlett Johansson.
“I was with my boyfriend at the time, and I said to him, ‘I’m not going to lie: If Scarlett Johansson walked into the room and wanted to make out with me, I would make out with her. I hope you’re okay with that?'”
Miley and Katy have kissed before, back during Miley’s Bangerz tour days. Katy has also recently admitted that she’s done more than just kiss girls. Katy Perry will be going on tour in September, and if Katy really is the new Miley, then expect to see Katy “spontaneously” pull a “surprised” Miley out of the audience and enthusiastically try to shove her tongue down her throat during a performance of I Kissed A Girl.
There’s no clear answer as to whether or not Miley and Katy have smooched, and I have no idea where Miley got that story about being the source material for I Kissed A Girl from. But I am positive it’s a lie. I Kissed A Girl was released when Katy was 23 and Miley was 15. If Katy had admitted to kissing on a 15-year-old Hannah Montana in 2008, her follow-up single would have been called I Received A Visit (From Chris Hansen).
