Selena Gomez And The Weeknd Made Their Official Debut At The Met Gala

Because not everyone is an Instagram-scrolling millennial, famous young couples have to let old people (everyone over 30) know they’re officially a thing by showing up together at a huge industry event. Boring twosome Selena Gomez and The Weeknd picked the beige (how fitting) carpet of famous people prom to debut their relationship. And they did it while looking like that always over-compensating couple at said prom. They’re really selling their relationship hard; I bet they spent most of the night testing everyone’s gag reflexes by hanging out in the lobby all night, cooing “I love you” to each other. According to E! News, they actually are that couple.

I’m actually a little shocked that Selena, who fulfilled a contractual obligation to wear Coach, would do the so-in-love shuffle at such an attention-heavy event since she’s counting down the seconds until she’s not a famous person anymore. Maybe the lure of seeing her boyfriend’s date from last year and one-time social media nemesis Bella Hadid was just too good of a reason not to stay at home.

Bella is wearing Alexander Wang. But if you told me she was wearing a mesh body stocking from an old Sexy Kitty Halloween costume covered in a bag of Hobby Lobby stick-on rhinestones, I would believe that too. Although I can’t crap on Bella’s outfit too much. She kind of looks like a professional figure skater who is coached by a semi-retired prostitute, and that deserves at least half a clap.
