Katy Perry Talked About Why She Cut Her Hair

March 6, 2017 / Posted by:

Last night, Katy Perry showed up to the iHeartRadio Music Awards with her hair cut into the edgier sister of the “Can I talk to your manager?” The most obvious reason for why she did it was probably because she got the hair-chopping itch some people get after breaking up with someone. But according to Katy Perry, that’s not why she did it. Katy wants to redefine femininity and also because she’s the Lena Dunham to Miley Cyrus’ Rihanna.

Katy has done the short hair thing before, but only in wig form. This time she cut it for real. Katy attempted to earn some more woke points while explaining her new look to iHeartRadio host Elvis Duran (via People).

“Hello! I’m trying to get more attention, obviously. You can just grow it back. Honestly, I tried to take my full head of hair platinum and I had a lot of breakage. I’ve always wanted to look like Miley Cyrus. I’ve always wanted to have that pixie haircut, so I said, ‘Let’s just go for it.’

I feel like there’s a new wave, a new authentic vibe coming in and I think this matches. I want to redefine what it means to be feminine. Look at Scarlett Johansson, who’s one of the most beautiful women in the world. We have the same haircut, and I saw her at an Oscars party and was like, ”I’m doing it.’ You’re hot, you can be hot and look great with this kind of hair. Why not?”

Katy’s shaved head haircut choice is all very suspicious, considering she was cracking jokes about not having a mental breakdown and shaving her head at the last music award show she appeared at. Part of me hopes that Britney Spears once again has a sweetly shady response to that and the next time she sees Katy, she’ll say, “Ah’m just so excited to meet you, Kate! Ah love your 8 kids, they’re so cute!

Sadly, Katy’s hair debut was sabotaged by her teeth!

Currently taking applications for real friends who aren't afraid to tell me there's quinoa in my teeth ?

Katy’s teeth were probably inspired by Miley Cyrus too. Showing up to a fan-cee awards show with vittles in your chompers feels like a very Cyrus thing to do.
