Grant Show Will Be The New Blake Carrington In The CW’s “Dynasty” Reboot
All together now: Fuck you, Grant Show, you’re not my Blake Carrington! You can’t tell me what to do!
TNT’s revival of Dallas worked for me, because they used the original actors (in their original roles) and also brought in new youngins. But The CW isn’t doing that with their blasphemous Dynasty reboot. They’re bringing it into modern day (goodbye shoulder pads and Nolan Miller eleganza) and it doesn’t look like they’re using any of the original actors. They’re using the characters, though, and just recasting them. It’s a straight-up remake with strangers in it!
So yeah, in this GIF, the role of The CW is being played by Dominique Deveraux and the role of our childhood is being played by Alexis Carrington.
It’s already been announced that Gossip Girl creators, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are writing the pilot script along with Sallie Patrick. The new Dynasty will still focus on the feud between two rivals, but Alexis vs. Krystle has been replaced with Fallon vs. Cristal. Like the original, Fallon is Blake and Alexis’ daughter and Cristal is about to become her new stepmother. Cristal is now a Hispanic woman who is marrying into a WASPY ass rich family.
Nathalie Kelly has already been cast as Cristal and Elizabeth Gillies is the new Fallon. Sam Adegoke will play the new Jeff Colby and Robert Christopher Riley will play the Carrington family’s driver. And today Deadline reported that Jake Hanson from Melrose Place is Blake Carrington 2.0. May the angels gently hold the late John Forsythe close before telling him that he’s been shamelessly replaced
I love Grant Show and I’m all for him getting more jobs, but there can only be one Blake Carrington! I was going to write nothing but “WHY???” over and over again in this post, but I’m saving that for if they announce that someone other than Dame Joan Collins is playing Alexis.
And all my bitching and moaning aside, if Dynasty 2.0 gets picked up, I’ll be in front of my couch 30 minutes before it premieres, snorting Red Bull and taping my eyelids to my eyebrows so that I won’t miss a second of its first episode. I’m so easy.
