Jamie Lynn Spears’ 8-Year-Old Daughter Is Reportedly In Critical Condition After An ATV Accident (UPDATE)

Last night, TMZ delivered eighty-five layers of awfulness when they reported that Maddie Aldridge, the 8-year-old daughter of Brit Brit’s little sister Jamie Lynn Spears, is in a bad, bad way after she was involved in an ATV accident. Maddie was reportedly on a hunting trip yesterday when the ATV she was riding in flipped over into a pond. TMZ’s sources say that Maddie was underwater for several minutes and was unconscious. She was airlifted to a hospital in New Orleans, LA. Jamie Lynn wasn’t with her daughter at the time of the accident. The sources also say that Maddie is in critical, but stable, but condition.

Brit Brit Spears’ rep confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that Maddie is in the hospital, but said that the info that TMZ put out there isn’t exactly made of one hundred percent truthiness.

“The details the media are reporting surrounding the incident regarding Jamie Lynn’s daughter Maddie are incorrect. Right now the Spears family asks that everyone respect their privacy during this time and appreciates all the prayers and support for their family.”

Daddy Spears also asked for everyone to send good thoughts to Maddie, “All I can say is pray for our baby Maddie.

You heard Daddy Spears! Form a prayer circle for Maddie and if you don’t have enough people to form a prayer circle, form one with wooden ladles covered with Velveeta grits. And this awful story may be everyone’s cue to grab our internet reading device of choice and retreat to our cave of solace (aka under the covers on our bed).

UPDATE: Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards released a statement about the accident that put little Maddie in the hospital. Maddie wasn’t on a hunting trip. The accident happened on the family’s property and Jamie Lynn and her husband Jamie Watson were there at the time. Maddie was driving the ATV and she swerved to avoid a ditch, which caused the ATV to fall into a pond. The two Jamies and other family members saw the accident and ran over to help Maddie. Maddie was completely underwater and was trapped by her seatbelt. They couldn’t get Maddie out of her seatbelt. Paramedics showed up two minutes later and were finally able to get Maddie out. As I wrote before, Maddie is in critical, but stable, condition.
