Here’s Amber Heard’s PSA Against Domestic Violence

Future queen of the seven seas Amber Heard has filmed a PSA against domestic violence as part of the #GirlGaze Project. In the video, Amber seems to be barely holding back tears as she alludes toward her accusations of domestic violence against her ex-husband Johnny Depp.

Oh, writing this post isn’t like walking delicately through a minefield or anything.

EW:

“I guess there was a lot of shame attached to that label of victim. It happens to so many women you know. When it happens in your home behind closed doors with someone you love, it’s not straightforward,” Heard, 30, says. “If a stranger did this, as it was pointed out to me, if a stranger did this it would be a no-brainer.”

Amber goes on to credit friends for helping her out of her situation and noting that her celebrity gives her a pulpit from which to speak out against domestic violence.

“If I hadn’t had a few people that I really trust around me, a few women, support, a few friends. If I hadn’t had them around me, how different my life would be,” Heard continued in her emotional PSA.

“Just as a woman having gone through this in the public stage, in the public arena that I did it, I have a unique opportunity to remind other women…this doesn’t have to be the way it is, you don’t have to do it alone, you’re not alone,” she added. “And also, we can change this.”

Amber and the anthropomorphic Claire’s location had a horrific divorce battle. Amber backed up her claims that Johnny was physically abusive towards her with a photo that People magazine ran that depicted her with what looked like facial cuts and a black-ish eye, text messages from Johnny’s assistant sent in 2014 that referenced him being violent and a messy video of Johnny remodeling their kitchen with his fists and then seemingly advancing on her as it cut out.

Amber got a restraining order against Edward Destroy-The-Kitchenhands four days after she filed for divorce and Johnny denied all of the allegations Amber made through his legal team. The judge later dismissed the domestic violence claim and the couple reached a divorce settlement outside of court in August. EW says that “Mera” ended up splitting her $7 million dollar divorce settlement among several different women’s charities with “a particular focus to stop violence against women.” Johnny’s rep pretty much confirmed this.

You can watch Amber’s PSA below while I back away slowly and move on to writing a less potentially controversial post which will hopefully be about a Kardashian buying a new ass or something equally pedestrian and innocuous for dlisted.
