Selena Gomez Made Her Return At The AMAs
For the past couple of months, Selena Gomez has been away dealing with some heavy side effects related to her lupus diagnosis. Most recently, it was reported that she had taken her hiatus to a more serious level and had checked into rehab. Selena Gomez won an award at the American Music Awards in Los Angeles last night, and must have decided she was feeling well enough for a public appearance, because she came to collect it in person.
Selena took home the AMA for Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist. In a move that can be best described as either a ironic coincidence or a desperate stunt queen move by their fans (fans vote for the AMA winners), the Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist went to Selena’s douchey lil’ ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber. Justin Bieber actually took home 4 awards and performed via satellite last night. Thank goodness Selena was never fighting a Bieber-related addiction, otherwise hearing his name announced so many times last night might have caused a Pavlovian response and triggered a dickmatization relapse.
During Selena’s acceptance speech, she covered a lot of ground about what she’s been going through.

“Thank you guys so much. In 2014, this stage was actually the first time that I was authentically 100% honest with all of you. I think it’s safe to say that most of you know a lot of my life whether I liked it or not. And I had to stop, ’cause I had everything, and I was absolutely broken inside. And I kept it all together enough to where I would never let you down, but I kept it too much together where I let myself down.
I don’t want to see your bodies on Instagram. I want to see what’s in here. I’m not trying to get validation, nor do I need it anymore. All I can say from the bottom of my heart is I am so grateful to have the opportunity to be able to share what I love every single day with people that I love. And I have to say thank you so much to my fans because you are so damn loyal, and I don’t know what I did to deserve you. But if you are broken, you do not have to stay broken. And if that’s anything, whether you respect me or not, that’s one thing you should know about me: is that I care about people.”
Selena’s former friend Kylie Jenner must have been so confused by Selena’s speech. If you’re not putting your body on Instagram for attention, what the hell is the point? Although I’m a little afraid some of those thirsty Instagram thotties might take her message the wrong way. “Selena, I keep trying to show my insides on Instagram, but they keep telling me my pictures violate their explicit content rules.”
