QOTD: Miley Cyrus Has Serious Thoughts About The Name “Supergirl”

You may have already checked the fuck out of this post after reading “Miley Cyrus Has Serious Thoughts.” You’re smart in wanting to preserve your remaining brain cells.

During an interview with Variety, Miley Cyrus was asked why she thinks gender inequality in Hollywood still exists, and her answer led to her brain burping up a little rant the name Supergirl. SPOILER ALERT: Miley doesn’t like it.

The #1 enemy of the Lambs showed us that if she was a superhero, her name would be Supermess and she’d paralyze the brains of her enemies by spitting out streams of word soup like this one:

“A lot of it could be changed if we had a female president. That would give us a subconscious boost. I think people will have to realize they’re looking really dated. For example, there’s a show called ‘Supergirl.’ I think having a show with a gender attached to it is weird. One, it’s a woman on that fucking billboard — it’s not a little girl. Two, what if you’re a little boy who wants to be a girl so bad that this makes you feel bad? I think having a title like ‘Supergirl’ doesn’t give the power that people think it does.”

Four things:

1. Supergirl has been around since 1959. There’s already a different comic book character named Superwoman.

2. The producer of The CW’s Supergirl already said that her name is Supergirl because she’s Supergirl. They tried to modernize the character but wanted to keep core elements about her like her fucking name. Calista Flockhart’s character also defended the “Supergirl” name in the first episode when Kara (aka Supergirl) asked why she didn’t name the city’s new hero “Superwoman.”

“And what do you think is so bad about ‘girl’? I’m a girl, and your boss, and powerful, and rich, and hot and smart. So if you perceive Supergirl as anything less than excellent, isn’t the real problem you?”

3. I am waiting (not really) for her rant on Batman v. Superman.

4. What in the fuck is she even saying? I think she’s trying to say that the name “Supergirl” could make a trans child feel bad about their identity, but I’m not sure. I don’t even think Miley knows what she’s saying. I can already hear people saying that Miley needs to step away from the bong and that hurts my feelings. That makes me want to grab my bong and stroke it softly while saying, “They don’t mean that.” That thought wasn’t powered by weed. Miley produces thoughts like that all on her own. She’s just being Miley!
