Kristen Stewart Thinks We’re All Stalkers

Emotive genius Kristen Stewart has a new movie coming out called Personal Shopper. In it, her character (the personal shopper for a supermodel) might be receiving text messages from her dead twin brother. Hey, it’s not a remake or based on a comic book, so that’s something.

During a press conference for the film on Thursday, Kristen mused that our current age of voyeurism due to social media has made us all “stalkers,” including her. Well, yeah, what else are we supposed to be doing? Funny I should type that because Kristen has a vague idea or something equally non-committal, as reported by CBS.

She called our collective preoccupation with other people “weird” and “so unbelievably distracting.”

“Much cooler, productive rad things could be happening,” in lieu of that social media attention, she said. “I know I sound ridiculous and really obvious; everyone says this, and I sound like an older person, but we could be doing way cooler s***. It’s so time-consuming.”

Yet, she admitted that it is pervasive: “We stalk each other. I stalk people, I get stalked, we all get stalked.”

Ahem, there are surely elderly people out there taking bikini shots of themselves for Instagram, so she better watch it with that “older person” ageist crap! The elderly can be just as vapid and self-absorbed as the rest of us! Kristen admitted that, even though she doesn’t have a social media presence, she still wants to be seen. And she’s doing a damn fine job at that cuz’ you can’t miss those pants (in the pictures below).

“I don’t hide anything. I don’t have any public social media thing that I do, engagement, but I ultimately want to be seen. It’s weird, like we think we have more control over that now than we’ve ever had because we have it in our hands? But we have none.”

As for that stalker charge, well – yeah. But as long as no one gets hurt and Tom Hardy allegedly “drops” the charges (in this entirely hypothetical situation). Oh, Mad Max, I AM YOUR FURIOSA. This got weird.
