Now For An Update On Halle Berry’s Divorce From Olivier Martinez
There’s a new dramatic twist to Halle Berry’s messy situation with her soon-to-be third ex-husband Olivier Martinez. But it’s not the kind of messy that ends with Halle’s new man getting into a Labor Day holiday brawl with Olivier on the front lawn. No, Halle doesn’t have a new man. In fact, it sounds like she wants to stay married to her former man.
Halle and Olivier wanted to quit each other so much last October that they both filed divorce papers. They also didn’t fight over the custody of their 2-year-old son Maceo. Something must have happened in the past 11 months, because TMZ says both Halle and Olivier are having second thoughts about getting divorced.
According to TMZ, a divorce court clerk recently sent Halle and Olivier a notice warning them that they better get moving on the divorce papers they filed almost a year ago, otherwise their case will get dismissed. Sources say there’s a very good chance their divorce will end up being dismissed. Neither Halle nor Olivier are in any rush to get divorced. The source adds that they’re both getting along right now and are fine with staying married. Olivier is also being a good parent to both Maceo and Halle’s 8-year-old daughter Nahla. The source says the divorce will probably just “go away.”
It sounds like this is a healthy and reasonable situation, right? Errr…not really. A source tells TMZ that Halle is putting their divorce on hold because she thinks Olivier might change his violent ways. If Olivier is able to manage his anger, she wants to stay married to him. The source adds that Halle doesn’t want to go through with the divorce because she doesn’t want to be a thrice-divorced 50-year-old mother of two. She also thinks another divorce won’t be good for her kids. Uh, who wants to break it to Halle that a divorce will probably fall pretty low on the list of reasons why Halle’s kids might need therapy in the future.
Halle needs to realize that being a three-time divorcée in her fifties isn’t nearly as awful as she thinks it is. After all, that’s not the red flag potential new boyfriends will be worried about if she asks them on a date. The fact that she’s Halle Berry is enough of a red flag. “Yes, I’m Halle Berry the actress – wait, where are you going? Why are you covering your face?”
