Britney Spears Has Threatened To Sue InTouch For Saying She Was Acting Loopy At The VMAs

If I had to describe Britney Spears’ performance at the MTV VMAs last week, I’d say she was mostly committed to moving her mouth along with the music. I also watched both the VMAs backstage and audience camera feed, and both times I saw Brit Brit, she was smiling like they told her she was going home with a $50 Cracker Barrel gift card. But according to InTouch Weekly, the Britney I saw at the VMAs was far from the Britney they saw. TMZ says Britney’s lawyer claims that what InTouch saw isn’t the truth and her team has threatened to sue.

According to TMZ, Britney’s people were informed that InTouch was preparing to publish a story about her acting “erratic” at the VMAs. InTouch claimed that Britney was allegedly “talking and laughing to herself” and speaking in a British accent. Okay…and? InTouch, please explain how that front-page news. Britney was probably just talking out her grocery list and started laughing after getting stumped on the spelling of “Spegettios.”

Regardless, Britney’s lawyer isn’t feeling InTouch’s story, and they recently sent a threatening letter, calling the story”utterly false, highly defamatory and completely offensive to Ms. Spears.” A source adds that her team is sick of “made-up stories“, especially since she’s worked really hard to step out of the shadow of the Britney of the head-shaving past.

Gossip Cop says TMZ’s source is telling the truth about Britney. They add that InTouch hasn’t confirmed whether they’ll pull the story before this week’s issue is published tomorrow. TMZ says if it does run, Britney’s team will 100% sue InTouch, and might start suing others for publishing fake stories about her.

If I were Britney’s lawyer, I don’t know how eager I would be to threaten to sue InTouch over that story. They’re going to have a really tough time trying to prove she wasn’t talking and laughing to herself. I know that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West spent a bunch of time backstage, which means there’s a good chance Britney was acting the way she was because she caught a glimpse of Kim’s A Bug’s Life butt out of the corner of her eye and confused her for Princess Atta. “Oh mah gawd! Should I ask for a picture? Ahahaahah – dang it! Seeing a real live celebrity got me them nervous giggle jitters.”
