Kanye West’s Nightmare Video For “Famous” Got A Couple MTV VMA Nominations

July 26, 2016 / Posted by:

The nominees for the 2016 MTV VMAs were announced earlier today. The bad news for Taylor Swift is that she got zero nominations. The good news for Taylor Swift is that two people she’s currently feuding with got nominations, which means her name will automatically get dragged into just about every conversation about the MTV VMAs on the internet today. Congratulations, Taylor!

Despite the fact that Taylor had a video that was eligible for a nomination (her bird-terrorizing  video for “Out of the Woods“), the MTV voting committee clearly wasn’t feeling it.

Taylor’s current rivals Kanye West and her ex Calvin Harris both got nominations. Kanye’s “Famous” got nominations for Video of the Year and Best Male Video. Calvin’s “This Is What You Came For” got nominations for Best Male Video and Best Collaboration Video.

I’m sure nominating two of Taylor’s sworn enemies is just part of a greater plot by the higher ups at MTV to get ratings. Don’t be surprised if on the night of the VMAs, Kanye and Calvin both win Best Male Video. Then as they collect their awards, Taylor will storm the stage and pull a Kanye by yanking the mics out their hands before squirting some Victim’s Choice brand artificial tears into her eyes and giving a pre-rehearsed bedroom mirror speech about character assassination and tearing people down.

But enough about that. Let’s move on to everyone else. Sorry, I should really be more specific. Let’s move on to BEYONCE…and the handful of other people who got nominations.

In news that will shock absolutely no one, the nominations were led by Beyonce. Beyonce got a total of 11 nominations including Video of the Year, Best Female Video, Breakthrough Long Form Video and many more. If you’re unable to reach a member of the Beyhive today, check your local church as there will be a very good chance they’ll be there offering prayers of thanks to MTV for their many bleyssings.

Coming up close behind Beyonce was Adele, who also scored a whole bunch of nominations for “Hello.” Yet not one for Outstanding Performance by a Piece of Outdated Technology for that scene-stealing flip phone. Sad, really. You can read the full list of nominees here, but here’s a few of the bigger categories:
