Okay, So Now Johnny Depp’s Legal Team Wants To Keep Everything Private
It’s been a little while since we’ve heard any kind of noise from the 20-car pile up crash that is Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s divorce fight. For a while there, all we could hear were the sounds of his team screaming, “She’s a gold digging hussy liar skeezer!“, her side screaming, “He’s a drunk, cracked out junkie wife beater!”, and Pistol and Boo howling, “Stop the madness!” But then it got as quiet as an empty theater on the opening night of Mortdecai. And Johnny Depp’s team wants to keep it that way.
The hearing to find out whether or not Amber’s restraining order against Johnny will be made permanent was supposed to go down in June, but it was pushed to August. Since then, things have been strangely quiet. Amber and Johnny are still working out their divorcement settlement and her lawyers have asked his lawyers to pass over financial documents so they can figure out her cut of the money he made during their 15 month marriage. Reminder: They didn’t sign a prenup.
UsWeekly says that Johnny’s lawyer, the divorce queen to the STAHS Laura Wasser, filed papers asking the court to put a gag on Amber’s side by labeling all of the documents he submits as “confidential.” Johnny’s side (Team Pot, Inc.) has accused Amber’s side (Team Kettle, LLC.) of leaking crap about their divorce to the press in the past. Laura Wasser adds that Amber has refused to put her signature on a STFU promissory note (aka a confidentiality agreement):
“Johnny does not dispute that Amber is entitled to the majority of the information sought in her discovery requests and subpoena,” the document states. “He is willing to produce the documents necessary for Amber’s evaluation of the relevant issues in this case, such as division of community estate and spousal support. He has asked, however, that a confidentially agreement be executed prior to the production of documents in order to protect the parties’ privacy.”
As the actor’s filing notes, “This case has been extraordinarily public since its inception. Amber has inexplicably refused to sign any agreement to maintain confidentiality in this action,” the filing claims. “Johnny is therefore asking the Court to issue a protective order.”
TMZ says that the papers also state that Amber’s side is going way too crazy because they also want the money records of Johnny’s Hollywood Vampires bandmates. The hearing for the settlement shit will happen in September.
It’s obvious to anyone with half a brain cell that both sides have been playing this out in public and have been leaking stories about each other to anyone who will publish it. Do they even know how to not leak stuff to the media? If the court declares that all documents submitted must be sealed, I fully expect Amber’s lawyers and Johnny’s lawyers to show up to the next hearing with pirate hooks for hands. I’m sure they’ll gnaw their fingers off to keep from calling Harvey Levin with a tip.
