Prince Didn’t Leave A Will, So Says His Sister

Everyone should have a will. Even I have a will and my “estate” consists of a VIP limited-edition Showgirls DVD, an autographed pair of Shauna Sand’s exquisite Lucite heels from eBay, an autographed picture of Robin Strasser and a Catra action-figure. (Note: My dog gets everything and I’m sure he’ll pawn it all off for Beggin’ Strips.) But Prince should really, really have a will since his estate consists of million of dollars and a treasure chest of priceless musical jewels. But I guess Prince just couldn’t be bothered with temporarily pressing pause on his sexy to sign some boring legal documents.

Prince was really protective of his music and crazy about where it ended up, so you’d think he’d have a 1,600 page will to make sure his art is in safe hands. But this morning, Prince’s sister Tyka Nelson (whose stunningly holy eyebrows have delivered me from evil) filed legal documents in Minnesota, and in those legal documents she claims that her brother didn’t have a will that she knows of. The Associated Press says that Tyka Nelson is asking the court to appoint a special administrator to become the head bitch of his estate. Tyka wants Bremer Trust, a corporate trust company, to be the administrator of her brother’s estate.

Tyka is Prince’s only full sibling. Tyka also named Prince’s five living half-siblings as heirs. Minnesota law states that if there is no will, his estate will be divided up equally between all of his siblings.

It’s been reported that Prince’s net worth is $300 million, but TMZ says that number isn’t right. They say Prince’s net worth was half that and that he had money issues before his death.

Tyka Nelson states in documents that she thinks her half-siblings are entitled to the same cut as her, so it doesn’t seem like things will get messy. Or will it? The news of Prince not having a will could bring out the shameless grifters. Don’t be surprised if a certain grifting ginger magically pops up with a raspberry-scented purple scroll that reads, “I, Prince Rogers Nelson, leave my entire fortune to my favorite actress and human Lindsay Dee Lohan!”
