Cross-Border Barbie And Ken Made An Appearance At The White House State Dinner

The White House threw a special fancy dinner party for Canada’s Next Top Model Prime Minister Justin Trudeau last night. Because JT is the Prime Minister of Canada, they also invited a whole bunch of famous and semi-famous Canadians to join them. I say “semi-famous“, because I scanned the guest list and no where did I see the names Bert Raccoon or Friend Record, aka Canada’s most important A-list celebrities.

So instead they settled for a bunch of Canadian nobodies you’ve probably never heard of, like Michael J. Fox, Mike Myers, and Sandra Oh. And as you can see above, Ryan Reynolds. Apparently Ryan got a plus-1 with his invite, and he could have brought anyone he wanted with him. But instead of double doubling-down on north star power and bringing French Canadian snowflake Mitsou as his date, he brought his bland non-Canadian wife Blake Lively. You did your homeland dirty, Ryan.

Not to mention that Blake couldn’t be bothered to put any effort into her outfit. I don’t know what the official dress code for last the state dinner was, but I’m sure it wasn’t “Formal Housecoat.” If Blake is the artisanal lifestyle guru she says she is, then she would have gone all-out and paid tribute to the Prime Minister of her husband’s home country by curating a Canada-themed ensemble. All she needed was a Canadian flag, some Canadian Tire money, half a side of smoked salmon, several receipts from The Brick, and two Maple Cream donuts from Tim Hortons.

Or if that’s too much work, she could have just swung by Miss Canada’s house and asked to borrow her rink rat Marie Antoinette eleganza.

Here are a few more pictures from last night’s state dinner, including President Barack Obama and Michelle with JT and his wife Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau. And yes, that sexy renard argenté (silver fox) is Mike Myers.
