Gina G!

Gina G (born name: Gina Mary Gardiner) was a DJ and pop singer in her homeland of Australia before she moved to England in the 90s and began her journey to becoming the brightest ginger star of 1996’s Eurovision contest. Gina G’s biggest, and pretty much only hit, in the US was “Ooh Aah… Just A Little Bit” and it was the United Kingdom’s official entry in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1996. Wikipedia tells me that Gina G co-wrote the song, but since the music industry is an unfair wasteland of unfairness, she never got credit. Trick got reverse Beyonce’d.

“Ooh Aah” came in 8th place at Eurovision and while it didn’t win that shit, it did win on the European and US dance charts. It was also nominated for a Grammy for Best Dance Recording. It lost to Donna Summer and Giorgio Moroder. If you’re going to lose a dance Grammy to someone, it may as well be Donna Summer.

Gina G still makes and puts out music today, but we’ll probably forever know her as the chanteuse who sang the 90s dance hit about first-time ass sex. Yes, that’s the way I’ve always heard it. I mean, “ooh ahh… just a little bit” is the dance song lyric version of “Just the tip!” And in the middle of the song when she lets out a “woooo oooh hooo,” that’s when the whole thing is in and it doesn’t hurt like Satan. Truly, this is the butt sex struggle anthem of 1996!

And when Geri Halliwell left the Spice Girls in 1998, I’m surprised they didn’t ask Gina G to replace her, because Gina G gives me “standby Ginger Spice hotness” and that is one of the greatest compliments you can give someone.
