There’s A Very Messy, Very Public Fight Between The Members Of Blink-182 Happening Right Now

The 17-year-old aspiring dirtbag wannabe skater girl in me just collapsed on the floor and started sobbing into a pile of Dickies pants and baseball raglans and empty tubes of Fudge Paintbox Pretty Flamingo hair dye, because my pop punk reason for living – Blink-182 – is currently in a bad way. During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus and tattooed millipede Travis Barker took off their studded bracelets and took several bitchy swipes at Blink-182’s former guitarist Tom DeLonge. And those swipes were especially bitchy, because Tom DeLonge says he wasn’t aware that he had ever quit the band. Ooooh, adult dude drama!

According to Mark, this mess with Tom started two years ago when they were trying to get a new record deal, because I guess someone told them it was still 2002 and people still wanted to hear Blink-182. Eventually they signed a record deal and planned to start working on a new album January 5th of this year. However, on December 30th, Mark and Travis received an email from Tom’s manager saying he was done with their asses and bailing on that new album. Apparently, it was the same email they received 10 years earlier when Tom decided to go on an indefinite hiatus.

Apparently getting dumped over email pissed off Mark and Travis, so they ran into the high school parking lot to Rolling Stone to hiss about their former guitarist. Let’s hear from Travis Barker first, shall we?

“Everyone does hella amounts of work to get a record deal and now Tom isn’t part of Blink-182. It’s hard to cover for someone who’s disrespectful and ungrateful. You don’t even have the balls to call your bandmates and tell them you’re not going to record or do anything Blink-related. You have your manager do it. Everyone should know what the story is with him and it’s been years with it. When we did get back together after my plane crash, we only got back together, I don’t know, maybe because I almost died. But he didn’t even listen to mixes or masterings from that record. He didn’t even care about it. Why Blink even got back together in the first place is questionable.”

And now Mark’s thoughts:

“His actions speak louder than whatever he feels compelled to write on an Instagram post. We’ve been trying to record an album for the better part of two years and we had agreed to go in to record and my guess is that Tom was embarrassed because he doesn’t want to do Blink…It feels humiliating to be in a band where you have to be apologizing for one person all the time.”

Apparently they have taken their messy drama to Instagram. Tom recently responded to Mark and Travis’s accusations that he’s a flake by calling them out on Instagram, saying that he never quit anything and he actually found out about Mark and Travis’ interview while he was on a phone call discussing a Blink-182 event in NYC.

And when asked if they’d ever let Tom back in the band that he apparently hasn’t yet left, Mark and Travis sort of nervously tugged at their collars in the sameĀ Um…well…uh way I do when someone asks me why I own a Blink-182 hoodie.

Damn, even the melodramatic 17-year-old in me thinks this Blink-182 feud is an embarrassing mess. First of all, these dudes are pushing 40. That’s TOO DAMN OLD for this shit. Second, how can they gang up on Tom like that? Tom is both the fun one and the hot one. Third and finally, if Travis Barker is going to start a fight with anyone, it should be with his gorgeous ex-wife Shanna Moakler and it should be filmed as an 8 episode reality show for MTV called Meet the Barkers…Again, because I legit loved Meet the Barkers and would totally watch new episodes of it.
