Sasheer Zamata Is The Newest Cast Member Of Saturday Night Live

January 6, 2014 / Posted by:

Last month, Saturday Night Live held a secret audition (it wasn’t THAT secret since everybody found out and wrote about that shit) for a new black female cast member, because they were getting a whole lot of shit for not having a black female comedian in the cast since Maya Rudolph in 2007. Lorne Michaels should’ve called it a day by giving Debra Wilson as much money as she wants to join the cast, but he held auditions instead. He told The New York Times that SNL will add a black funny lady to the cast in January and possibly add a second one a little while later. Well, January is here and Lorne told the truth. The Wrap says that NYC comedian Sasheer Zamata has been added to the cast and will make her debut on the January 18th episode, which will be hosted by Wheelchair Jimmy. Let’s bet our lube money on which black famous woman they’ll make Sasheer play first. Beyonce, Oprah, Michelle Obama or Miley Cyrus? I hope it’s Eartha Kitt (skip to the 7:08 mark in that video my ass linked).

Sasheer graduated from University of Virginia and afterward moved to NYC and performed in Upright Citizens Brigade Theater and other places.

Kenan Thompson probably untucked as he read the news, because he told TVGuide that he’s done with doing drag to play famous black women on SNL. Once he’s done untucking, he can use his hands to pack up his dressing room, because now that SNL has a black woman, his services are not needed anymore. Goodbye. No, they’ll keep him around. Somebody has to play Whoopi.
