Jane Campion is really oscillating between “Yaaaassss queen!” and “Girl, stop,” pretty quickly. The director of Oscar-favorite, Power of the Dog, made headlines for checking Sam Elliott over his shitty criticisms of the movie. But those claps for her turned into cringes during the speech she gave at last night’s Critics Choice Awards after winning Best Director. Jane chose to point out Serena and Venus Williams, who were in the audience, and say to them that they are “marvels” but that they don’t “play against the guys, like I have to.” Surprisingly, it didn’t go over well.

She is in the clear, in the eyes of the law, after she was declared innocent of any wrongdoing pertaining to the fatal car accident she was involved in this past summer. Police Take Back Their Original Claim That Venus Williams Was At Fault For Fatal Car Crash
As Michael K reported last month, tennis goddess Venus Williams was involved in a fatal car crash in Palm Beach Gardens, FL on June 9. Her SUV was struck in an intersection by a Hyundai Accent driven by one Linda Barson. Linda’s husband Jerome Barson, 78, was a passenger in her car and sustained head injuries from the collision. He died two weeks later in ICU. His family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit again Venus, and police initially blamed Venus for the accident.
Video of the accident taken by a nearby security camera has surfaced. It’s hard to make out, but it looks like one of those messy accidents where no one was really at fault and the legalities of traffic laws will ultimately side with one of them. TMZ posted the video with handy arrows indicating the participants and added slo-mo so we can witness the carnage. *sad face*

Yesterday, we all learned that on June 9, Venus Williams was involved in a car crash near her home in Palm Beach Gardens, FL and that the police declared that she was at fault for it. 78-year-old Jerome Barson got hurt badly in the crash and he later died from his injuries in the hospital. We all knew that a lawsuit was coming, and a lawsuit has arrived on Venus’ lap.
Venus Williams Reportedly Found At Fault For A Fatal Car Crash
TMZ says that the police in Palm Beach Gardens, FL are pointing fingers at Venus Williams, tennis star and soon-to-be aunt to a tennis-playing Reddit baby, for causing a car crash that sent a 78-year-old man to the ICU where he later died. The crash is still under investigation and so far Venus hasn’t been charged with anything and she hasn’t been issued any kind of traffic violations.
