In an interview with Fatherly, mom-to-be Scarlett Johansson talked about how she’s hanging up her tight black suit and is moving on from playing Black Widow. I see that THEE Stephen Dorff’s comments about how she should be “embarrassed” to be a part of a trash movie like Black Widow got to ScarJo! Or she’s just really bored with making zillions of dollars to be in Marvel movies.

Marvel’s newest magnet for nerd money, Black Widow, is coming out this Friday, and so the promo train for it has been running, but the Black Widow of Black Widow has not been on it. Scarlett Johansson wasn’t at Black Widow’s premiere in London and she hasn’t been hawking it that much. I figured that’s because ScarJo heard Stephen Dorff say that she should be embarrassed to be a part of a movie that belongs in a trash can, and she’s been sitting in a dark corner in her house, hiding her shamed face in embarrassment. But strangely enough, that’s not why she’s been off the Black Widow promo stroll. Page Six says that ScarJo is laying low because she’s busy starring in the real-life reboot of A Tree Grows In Brooklyn called A Tree Grows In ScarJo. Sources say that ScarJo is pregnant with her and her husband Colin Jost’s first child together.

If you regularly wake up from your brain being hit with one of the most important questions of our time, “What does the star of Space Truckers think of Marvel movies,” you’re about to get a peaceful night’s sleep because Stephen Dorff has finally burped up an answer. Stephen hates them and he specifically called out Black Widow by pretty much saying that it’s premiere should be held in a landfill since it’s garbage. It doesn’t seem like Stephen has even seen Black Widow yet, but he still believes that Scarlett Johansson should be hiding her face in shame because of it. Um, there are many, many, MANY, many things that ScarJo should be embarassed about, but collecting millions upon millions of dollars to mumble out scripted lines while wearing a black jumpsuit isn’t one of them to me. Major PR firms are telling their clients to just ignore the HFPA until it makes changes to become more diverse and inclusive, including adding more people of color as members and putting restrictions on gifts and money to members (see: the Emily In Paris mess). Deadline says that Netflix, home to Emily in Paris, has cut ties with the organization altogether and actors like Scarlett Johansson and Mark Ruffalo are dragging the HFPA too. Well, ScarJo is a woman of color so she’s looking out for her own!

Scarlett Johansson is an actress, singer, activist, and professional controversy stirrer. Her greatest hits include: comparing playing a trans person to playing a tree, taking a whitewashed Asian role, and insisting Woody Allen is innocent cuz he told her so. Now she’s talking about those wild choices in an interview with The Gentlewoman, a UK magazine. ScarJo jokes that she’s made a career out of controversy and it’s been embarrassing, but she’s only human (a human who can play a tree, FYI).
