Why do I get the feeling that Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix aren’t exactly 100% thrilled with that win for Joker? It’s bad enough they’ve got to deal with the anti-superhero franchise crowd responding to this news by suggesting legitimate filmmaking is dead. But until the next award is handed out, they’ve got to see six dozen headlines in which their win is joined by the words: “Roman Polanski also a big winner!” I guess it could be worse? “Woody Allen nabs bronze!” Yeah, that would be worse.

If, like me, you were fantasizing about a buddy film starring R. Kelly and Roman Polanski as cellmates who get hilariously disfigured during a botched prison escape attempt, then I’m sad to say, it must remain an unfulfilled fantasy. Roman’s not in danger of getting thrown in American prison at the moment, because he’s afraid to leave France. So, even though his newest film An Officer and A Spy is premiering at the Venice Film Festival tomorrow, he won’t be there because Italy would extradite his ass. But Roman being Roman, still managed to take the opportunity to once again reiterate his status as the 20th (and 21st) century’s most aggrieved man.
Roman Polanski Will Skype Into The Venice Film Festival To Avoid Extradition
Haughty fugitive from justice Roman Polanski is still under the impression that the important cineastes of the world want to see his entitled sex offender face at their movie marathon hoedowns. The Hollywood Reporter says that Roman will attend the premiere of his film An Officer and a Spy at the Venice Film Festival next month via Skype. The U.S. and Italy have an extradition agreement and Roman would be immediately snatched up by the Carabinieri if he entered the country and shipped back to the States. Hopefully in cargo class.

French actress and model, Emmanuelle Seigner has been married to director Roman Polanski since 1989. She married him after that whole “fleeing America before being sentenced for statutory rape in 1977″ thing. Well Emmanuelle is the type to stand by her man, and she’s doing it again now. Emmanuelle is pissed that her husband is being used in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood and she took to social media to let us know it.
Roman Polanski Is Suing To Rejoin The Academy
The shockingly dismayed by the #MeToo movement Roman Polanski must have some huge, old-dude, pendulous balls swinging low because he’s suing the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences to re-join their esteemed ranks. If you’ll recall, Roman was booted from Oscars HQ in May of 2018 for the sex abuse of a 13-year-old girl case that’s been hanging over his head and caused him to flee the US way back in the disco years. Polanski had threatened this and finally pulled the trigger. Everyone who gave him that standing “O” has hopefully found their seats by now.
