Open Post: Hosted By OK Go’s Printer Orgy Of A Video

OK Go must stress the hell out when they have to shoot a video. They’re caught in a vicious, terrible cycle of having to release a breathtakingly innovative video for each of their singles. You know some of them are like “Can we just tape a live performance and call it a goddamn day? These shoots take three months and I’ve got kids that need to know their father.

This one’s for their new track “Obsession.” It features 567 printers printing thousands of pages to create imagery while the band flies around on harnesses. OK Go says that all the paper involved in the making of the video went on to get recycled, and all proceeds were given to Greenpeace. It’s a cool concept, but THE TREES! This video killed forests! Huge swaths of the Pacific Northwest are now barren and bald!

And imagine being the dude who had to replace the toner? Some poor record label intern is covered in printer dust and probably battling emphysema or some sort of respiratory illness brought on by chemical inhalation now.

You can probably recall the Rube Goldberg device video, the toast art video, the zero-g video and the sort of dumb one where they drove by the instruments to play them which I think was also a car insurance commercial. The imagination involved when it comes to visualizing their music knows no bounds. Honestly, I am one jaded bitch and they never fail to delight my “meh” ass.
