The NFL Warned Eminem And Dr. Dre Not To Get Political During The Super Bowl Halftime Show, Which They Did Anyway
The Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show (brought to you by Pepsi) happened last night, as expected, and it went off without a hitch. Dr. Dre was joined by Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, and Anderson .Paak. No Left Shark here. Except, if you’re the NFL, then you might think that was the biggest PR disaster of a Super Bowl Halftime Show this side of Justin Timberlake’s hand exposing a titty. According to sources, the NFL really didn’t want Dr. Dre to sing one very specific anti-police lyric in “Still D.R.E.“, and they really really didn’t want Eminem to take a knee, a la Colin Kaepernick. That screen shot above might have been the exact moment all those NFL politically-averse control freaks dropped their Pepsis in shock. Because as you can see, Eminem took that knee, and Dr. Dre closed the show with “Still D.R.E.“, with that anti-cop lyric right where it usually is.
Tom Brady Is Officially Retired From The NFL
After teasing this news for a while, 44-year-old Tom Brady has gone ahead and confirmed that he’s officially done playing with balls for a living. Excuse me, in more technical terms, he’s retiring from the NFL after 22 years, seven Super Bowl wins, and one very messy sunken ball scandal. And it’s for real because he posted his exit interview on social media (and you know there are no take-backs when it comes to celebrity Instagram posts).
Carl Nassib Is Now The First Active NFL Player To Come Out As Gay
Yesterday Carl Nassib made sports history when he came out as gay. The 28-year-old Las Vegas Raiders tight end defensive end is officially the first active NFL player to be openly gay. Carl, who describes himself as “a pretty private person,” shared the news in an Instagram video and written statement. He wrote that he’s thankful for the support he’s received from family, friends, the NFL, his coaches, and fellow players and that he’s always been “greeted with the utmost respect and acceptance.” Carl also announced he is partnering with the nonprofit organization The Trevor Project to help prevent LGBTQ+ suicide and has begun by donating $100,000. So far the public response to Carl’s coming out has been overwhelmingly supportive, which has surely confused all the homophobic jocks from my high school.
NFL Star Earl Thomas Was Held At Gunpoint By His Wife After She Caught Him Cheating In An Orgy That Involved His Brother
The headline is insane, but the full story is even more insane, so here goes. If you’re a sports fan (anybody?) you may know NFL player Earl Thomas, currently of the Baltimore Ravens, and formerly of the Seattle Seahawks, where he was a member of “The Legion of Boom”, a legendary group of defensive players who helped the Seahawks win the Super Bowl in 2014.
So yeah. Earl does good sports. But it turns out Earl does not do good husband. Because on April 13, after fighting about his drinking habits with his wife/high school sweetheart/mother to his kids, Nina Thomas, he went out with his brother, Seth Thomas, picked up some women, and had an orgy at a nearby Airbnb in the Austin, Texas area. Yes, with HIS brother.
Team Nina, right? Errr… not so much. Because Nina decided to figure out where Earl went and logged into his Snapchat and found video of him with another woman. So she tracked down his whereabouts using Snapchat, grabbed Earl’s gun (claiming she just wanted to “scare him”), and traveled to the Airbnb with two female friends as backup. Tom Brady was the number one trending topic on Twitter this morning because he is officially no longer with the New England Patriots. Gisele Bündchen‘s husband is hanging it up with the team after a twenty year career, six Super Bowl wins, an important cameo in Ben Affleck’s nanny cheating scandal, and one conspiracy to deflate footballs for which a judge let him all the way off the hook. 42-year-old Tom is ready to move on and deflate footballs somewhere else!
Jay-Z’s NFL Deal Is Coming Under Fire After Bizarre Tweets Resurface
Football fans everywhere are gearing up for the very first Football Sunday of the NFL season today. And although there are some who are still boycotting the NFL in protest of police brutality, Jay-Z ain’t one of them. He recently signed a deal with the NFL for the Inspire Change Initiative. And although financial details haven’t been disclosed, I’m sure there won’t be any small change flooding Jay’s pockes. Right after the deal was announced, former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick tossed a little side-eye at Jay for changing his stance and aligning with the NFL. And now, just weeks after Inspire Change was launched there’s already a major controversy.
