Nancy Reagan Reportedly Got The Bushes Disinvited From That Princess Diana Dinner

April 2, 2019 / Posted by:

Before there was Nene Leakes and Kim Zolciak, there was Nancy Reagan and Barbara Bush. The late former First Ladies were anything but friends and they didn’t exactly go out of their way trying to hide how they’d rather break bread with any given dictator than each other. Barbara might be getting the last word in, though, because a new book is out about Babs, and it talks about why she thought Nancy hated her so much – including knocking her off the guest list to a dinner with Princess Diana!

Nancy Reagan Has Died

March 6, 2016 / Posted by:

Nancy Reagan, who was FLOTUS for most of the greatest decade in pop culture the 80s, died of congestive heart failure at her home in Bel Air, CA. She was 94.

TMZ first broke the news, because you know, this election season has been such a never-ending acid trip that of course TMZ broke the news that Nancy Reagan has died. Nancy’s rep Joanne Drake confirmed the news in a statement and said that there will be a public memorial before Nancy is buried:

“Mrs. Reagan will be buried at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, next to her husband, Ronald Wilson Reagan, who died on June 5, 2004. Prior to the funeral service, there will be an opportunity for members of the public to pay their respects at the Library.”

Before Nancy became the First Lady of California (from 1967 to 1975) and the United States (from 1981 to 1989), she was part of the acting game in Hollywood. Nancy met former president Ronald Reagan in Hollywood and they got married in 1952. They had two children together and stayed married until he died in 2004. When Nancy was FLOTUS, she created a SCANDAL by trying to bring glamour back to the White House. She apparently replaced all the china. Us children of the 80s know that Nancy’s main cause was the “war on drugs” and she became the Queen of Just Say No. Nancy even spread her anti-drugs message on a very special episode of Diff’rent Strokes, which still holds a place in the memory box in my brain. When I first read the news that Nancy Reagan had died, I went to my dresser to pull out my “Just Say No” t-shirt. But I don’t have a “Just Say No” t-shirt. I have a “D.A.R.E” t-shirt and yes, I’ve worn it while smoking the good shit.

Nancy was in the news again last year when the full story came out about how in 1985, she refused to help her friend Rock Hudson get an AIDS treatment in Paris. Rock Hudson died 9 weeks after he asked her for help. In 2013, Nancy’s daughter Patti Davis said that her mother’s views on gay rights had evolved and she supports marriage equality.

After Ronald Reagan’s death, Nancy stayed active in public service. During the past few years, she was in a bad way health-wise.

And now here’s my favorite picture of Nancy Reagan because this pretty much sums up 1983:
