Claire Foy’s portrayal of THE QUEEN in seasons one and two of Netflix’s The Crown earned her rave reviews and a bunch of awards. So it was a shock to find out that she was paid less than her co-star Matt Smith. Matt played THE QUEEN’S husband, Prince Phillip, who has historically always been second banana to his wife, as portrayed in the show. So why was he getting more in his direct deposit than the show’s lead? Could it be because he was…wait for it… a MAN?
Hello, hello! I’m baaaaack and missed you all very much. Before I scampered off to guzzle all the booze on vacation, everyone was outraged Dr. Who was making more than THE QUEEN…at least the fictionalized version…in The Crown. Now, it appears producers of the Netflix show are ready to do Claire Foy a solid and give her back pay to bring her salary equal to that of co-star Matt Smith. They should also throw in four corgis just to stay on brand. Continue reading
Claire Foy, the main crown-wearer in Netflix’s titular The Crown, has finally given her thoughts on the biggest scandal to come out of the show. Sorry Princess Margaret and your implied-nude birthday portrait, you’ve officially been bumped to the runner-up spot.
Last week it was revealed that Claire Foy, the main crown-wearer in the titular The Crown, took home less money than her co-star Matt Smith. Obviously Claire’s character Queen Elizabeth II is the main character, and it’s insane that she would have a smaller paycheck than Matt’s Prince Philip. Variety says that producers of The Crown are really sorry that happened.
During an industry panel at the INTV 2018 conference, the producers of Netflix’s The Crown revealed they spent more money on snively Prince Philip than they did on the actual crown meaning the queen meaning the actual star of the fucking show it says it right there in the title goddammit! Variety reports that Netflix had been paying Matt Smith’s no-eyebrow-having ass more than Golden Globe winning actress Claire Foy for the past two seasons.
The next time someone complains that Hollywood only makes reboots, sequels, and superhero movies, you can add that they’re also pretty big on current citizen of Hell Charles Manson at the moment as well. Quentin Tarantino has what will probably be the most high-profile one (still currently untitled, but reportedly starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie). Trailing close behind it will be a story about three members of Charles Manson’s family starring Matt Smith and a ghost story movie about Sharon Tate starring Hilary Duff (what even).
