Kelly Ripa Talked About Working Out Of A Janitor’s Closet And Sharing A Bathroom With The Audience During Her Early Days At “Live!”
Kelly Ripa covers the latest issue of Variety, and in the interview she talks about the epic highs and lows of her 22 years hosting Live! 52-year-old Kelly says that when co-host Ryan Seacrest decided to leave the show, she was nervous about her job. Ryan and her husband/future co-host, Mark Consuelos, assured her she’d be fine, but she told them she still had “a little PTSD” based on how ABC executives had treated her in the past. Kelly tells Variety that when she first started at Live!, ABC wouldn’t let her have an office. They stuck her in an empty janitor’s closet! They also wouldn’t give her a private bathroom. She had to line up with the studio audience to use the public toilet, even when she was pregnant. Variety describes her treatment as outrageously sexist. Ryan took the job after Kelly’s previous co-host Michael Strahan left Live for Good Morning America on a wave of messiness. Kelly felt blindsided over Michael’s move to GMA and was pissed that ABC didn’t include her in the discussions. Well, Seacrest is now out of that show, and Kelly’s husband, Mark Consuelos, will take over. And Ryan’s exit seems a lot, lot less dramatic than Michael’s… unless he tries to take the studio’s in-house spray tan machine. If he tries that shit, Kelly will rage until her Botox melts!

Ryan Seacrest couldn’t host Live with Kelly & Ryan on Monday (did ABC shoot their workhorse?!), so Kelly Ripa’s husband Mark Consuelos filled in. And 30 seconds into the show, the couple revealed some very strange personal information. Nope, it wasn’t another story about their daughter walking in on them having sex. It was about how they are “arm length incompatible”. Kelly explained that, typically, a person’s wingspan should be the exact length of their body. But her arms are 4 inches too short, and Mark’s are 4 inches too long. This means they cannot hold hands like a normal couple; Kelly’s hand can’t reach the hand at the end of Mark’s never-ending arms!
ABC Executives Are Worried That Ryan Seacrest Is Working Too Hard
One of the more annoying memories of the early 2000s has to be the time when American Idol cursed us with Ryan Seacrest––and almost 20 years later, he’s still around, peddling that faux charm across every media platform in existence––even during quarantine. And when Ryan seemed like he was having some kind of medical emergency on live TV during the American Idol finale, his rep blamed good old exhaustion and now we’re hearing that ABC is worried that their hardest-working cyborg is overworked.
Kelly Ripa’s Family Has Been Secretly Quarantining In The Caribbean
On May 5th, Kelly Ripa celebrated Cinco de Mayo by posting a very on-brand picture (aka being horny for her husband Mark Consuelos), and writing: “Call me crazy but I like Cinco de Mayo 2018 way better.” Kelly and Mark spent their 2018 Cinco in the Bahamas. Kelly’s caption might qualify as the understatement of the whole COVID-19 pandemic, because I’m pretty sure if you gave someone the choice between being in the Bahamas, or stuck inside eating quarantine rations, baking their 80th loaf of banana bread, and repairing the elastic on their face masks, they’re going to pick the Bahamas.
But it turns out Kelly was actually able to live her 2018 Cinco fantasy this year. Because People magazine is reporting that Kelly, Mark, and their kids have been quarantining in the Caribbean after getting “stuck” there during their spring break vacation.
