Lars Von Trier was invited back to Cannes again this year after sitting out a seven year ban for saying Hitler was a swell guy when promoting 2011’s Melancholia. (If you don’t remember, watch the clip, if only for Kirsten Dunst’s pained reaction, one of the many reasons I think she’s swell). He was back this year with his latest film, The House That Jack Built, which is about a serial killer, played by Matt Dillon. And things didn’t go so well again. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the snooty patooty Cannes crowd walked out on the screening in droves because they were shocked (shocked I tell you!) at the gruesomeness of the movie. To which I say: What did you ding dongs expect!?
