What should’ve been the second coming of “the roaring 20s” has instead mostly been “the cacophonous burrito of hesitant coughing and crying 20s” as it seems like life continues to get more complicated and disappointing for many of us, and our best and brightest dropping like flies has been one of the common plights of this era. It’s been tough to keep track of who died when since 2020-2022 has seemed like one long-ass year of grief, but it was only this past August that we lost one of the greats, Olivia Newton-John, who had bravely battled breast cancer for decades. And last night, the American Music Awards took a three-minute break from enthusiastically lapping at Taylor Swift’s b-hole so Pink could sing one of Olivia’s most loved songs, “Hopelessly Devoted To You,” in her honor.
Dave Chappelle Rejected The Offer From His Alma Mater To Name Their Theater After Him
If there’s one thing that Dave Chappelle loves more than Joe Rogan and pissing off members of the LGBTQ+ community, it’s Dave Chappelle. So when his alma mater, Washington D.C.’s Duke Ellington School of the Performing Arts, made arrangements to name the school’s theater space after him, you’d think that Dave would’ve enthusiastically accepted the honor from a front-row, years-old gum-crusted theater seat that has “Kip $wallows whole hot dawg$” carved into it to bask in the glow of his greatness. But after the fallout from Dave’s comments about trans people in his last Netflix special, paired with his last uncomfortable visit to the school, Dave decided that he doesn’t want his name on the theater, after all, if it’s going to continue to make waves among the students.
Trump Will Appoint Jon Voight And Mike Huckabee To The Kennedy Center Board Of Trustees
The Kennedy Center is one of those American institutions we don’t really pay much attention to until that one time a year when they announce their honorees and we see some assortment of legends decked out in rainbow ribbons like they’re making an appearance at the world’s most staid pride parade. Well, leave it to Donald Trump to ruin a thing we barely care about! While he’s not swapping out their signature rainbow ribbon for a bright red MAGA lanyard (yet), he will make 10 new appointments to their board of trustees. One is Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ dad, and the other is Angelina Jolie’s dad. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jon Voight and Mike Huckabee are just about to get a six-year term on the board handed to them on a silver platter. Thank god Cher was already honored last year. Otherwise her name might not have come up again until 2024!
