Hot Slut Of The Day!
Serene Branson, a reporter from CBS News Los Angeles who became a viral star last night after she spit out a jumble of words during her Grammys coverage. Most of us became fluent in gibberish after watching Arcade Fire's performance (and everybody else's last night) and Serene perfectly put our feelings into words. There's a lot of speculation going around about what happened to Serene. CBS News refused to comment, but The Telegraph is reporting that Serene was taken to the hospital for tests last night and she might have had a stroke live on air. None of this has been confirmed. So Serene might have suffered a stroke and she kept on going? We should salute Serene for that. And I wish Serene well so that she can come back on air very soon and blame Arcade Fire for this.
UPDATE: A rep for KCBS tells The Los Angeles Times that Serene was never hospitalized, but she was examined by paramedics. The rep wouldn't say what happened to Serene, but she's feeling better this morning, "Her vital signs were normal. She was not hospitalized. As a precautionary measure, a colleague gave her a ride home, and she says she is feeling fine this morning."
(For Jessica, James, Adriana and everybody else!)

I would not be surprised if this was Epilepsy. She may be aware that she has the condition, which is generally not life threatening, so if the paramedics examined her and determined it was a seizure, then she could've safely returned home to see her neurologist--if her condition was previously diagnosed--to check the levels of medication in her blood to see why they weren't controlling her seizures.
This would also explain how fearful/disoriented she looked because even if you know you have the condition, it is still scary when it's happening.
Her nervous system seemed to get impaired by something...either stroke or perhaps complications from a recent botox injection?
Arcade Fire: this problem was birthed at Phillips Exeter Academy, I am told, and that explains a lot. Too much Pixies in the dormitory in winter.
She's trying to downplay it but she has got to be scared. If she has half a brain cell left, anyway. You just don't go aphasic for no reason.

Poor woman. Not funny at all.
That poor woman! She looked scared as hell...she knew she wasn't making any sense. That just freaked me the hell out. I hope she's okay. She probably should have been admitted and tested...just sayin'!
_.•´¯`•._.•´¯`•._.•´¯`•._.•´¯`•._.•´¯`•._.•´¯`•._
I'll never know what happened to this poor blonde nobody because the gits in the CBS Legal Department yanked this shit off YouTube claiming copyright infringement.
Appears to be Aphasia. My 70-year-old mom, who had been previously very active and relatively youthful, suffered from it after a debilitating stroke. During the hospital and nursing home stays before she passed, I witnessed firsthand 20, 30, and 40-year-olds who had had strokes and developed speech difficulties. Aphasia can also result suddenly from head injury, brain tumor, or infection. I genuinely hope the best for this young woman. She looks terrified.
That damn Xanax bar got too excited going down cause it was at the Grammies and all...and it like EXPLODED in Serenes stomache and POW....BAM......Serene got all dizzy & confused!!!!
Next time she needs to stick with Oxy cause it's more used to the Hollywood scene and won't freak out like that Xanax did!!
Why did the paramedics let her go home?!
She seems aware that something bad is happening and even tries to get them to cut to something else at one point. She clearly says "Let's go to..."
One of our local anchors in Maine had a stroke on the air but he didn't know his words were coming out like that. His symptoms got a lot worse on the way to the hospital. She had SOMETHING, you just don't go aphasic for no reason

how freaking insane... vital signs cannot detect a stroke. Unreal. Just unreal. Natasha Richardson didn't go to the hospital either.. until it was too late and she died. Not that those two incidents are medically related.. but you just don't mess around with such scary symptoms. Something tells me we haven't heard the end of this story.
Okay. Now, thanks to the update, I'm totally confused. Wouldn't she be hospitalized if it was a stroke-type thing?

it looks like she noticed something was wrong before she even started speaking - there is fear in her eyes that she tries to "shake off." but it just goes downhill from there, poor mama.
i am really wishing her a clear diagnosis and full recovery.

I feel sooooo awful for her! For anyone who goes through this, but can you imagine on LIVE TV to a major LA audience. How awful! Lets all send our prayers to her, for a speedy recovery from whatever happened!
Actually that is what I hear when all women speak.
She looked terrified wen she realized nothing was coming out right. I feel so sorry for her.

This is tragic. She more than likely had a stroke and is suffering from Wernicke's aphasia. Dlisters do have a heart. Seems most agree that while at first it seemed funny (before we realized what happened), it is anything but. Wishing her the best and a full recovery...
poor poor thing - at 27 seconds in you can see the panic in her eyes as she realised nothing is coming out right.
Yeah, something definitely scrambled in her brain. I hope she's all right.

OMG this is my absolute biggest fear! I'm always afraid, when I have to speak with someone important (or the like), that I'll just start speaking gibberish (and/or have a seizure and pee myself) - but I always calm myself down by saying that that's irrational and wouldn't ever happen. WELL LOOK AT THAT, apparently it can! Ahhh the anxiety!! I'll be under my bed for the rest of my life, should anyone need me :(
Hopefully she's doing okay. Poor gal.

whatever happened to her, the fact that it happened "in front of us" makes our collective hearts go out to her. I have a friend who had a stroke recently and she is now doing very well. Hoping the same for Serene.
Has it been confirmed that she had a stroke or something like a stroke or are will still speculating? I've seen strokes, seizures and TIA's and this clip didn't show anything that looked like one of those events, to me. Actually, her speaking reminded me of a time a friend was abusing adderall and took a few too many. She seemed and looked absolutely fine but when she opened her mouth to speak, nothing intelligible came out. I'm not saying this reporter's problems were drug related but I just am not getting the bad brain event vibe here. Standing upright, smiling, holding onto the mike and knowing what you should be doing (even if the words come out wrong)are not symptoms of strokes, TIA's, etc. but I am not a dr so who knows.

That was so scary. Poor thing. I hope she has no lingering effects after her stroke/seizure whatever the heck happened to her.
And I'm with MK on Arcade Fire's first performance. I only watched two seconds and thought "That is going to give someone a damn' seizure". My little nephew had his first epileptic seizure after watching some flashing mess of a kid show on TV, so yes, it really can be triggered like that.
snowball YIKES! sorry to hear that!

Have you been diagnosed with a PFO? Just curious as severe migraines and strokes are symptomatic and I happen to be connected with a company that manufactures a device to close the PFO defect and alleviate a lot of those symptoms.
~*~Hello, my baby! Hello, my honey! Hello, my ragtime gal....~*~
I've had two TIA's and that's exactly what I was told I looked and sounded like. I hope she's okay.
They were the scariest moments of my life. I knew something was really, really wrong and I couldn't think of how to let anyone know - everyone was just walking around normally and they thought I was being funny. I couldn't even move right or answer questions.
Sometimes when I get super bad migraines, I get confused and my neurologist tells me I'm at a much higher risk of having a stroke, even with the things he's prescribed for me for now. I'm not even 40.
Mini-strokes are nothing to fuck around with.

It appears to me she was just doing her job and unfortunately the worst day of her life was seen by millions.
I had a TIA when I was 21 from taking birth control pills. I didn't sound like that but I didn't know my own name or where I was (answer: on a subway by myself in NYC). Fun times. Maybe I did sound like that; I have no idea. I was messed up enough for people to call 911.
I feel really sad for her. I hope she's okay.

That is scary.
One of our local news anchors had something like this happen recently. She was reading the news and all of a sudden started speaking gibberish. It turned out that she had had a mild seizure.

What is amazing to me is that they just keep doing their job despite a stroke/seizure. As if to say, I don't know what is happening to me right now, but the show must go on.

POOP (nourish the inner asshole)- MK
Some meanie in her earphone spouting gibberish for her to repeat? That would be a good April 1 prank.
"CBS Reporter Serena Branson's Grammy Recap Suffers From Major Headphone Malfunction
Our first thought when we saw this was, "Oh, no, call Dr. House! We've seen this kind of aphasia before." But as it turns out, this amazing live television gaffe was caused by nothing more than a delay in reporter Serena Branson's ear piece. Clearly, someone at her station is intimidated by charming, attractive women and they're doing everything they can to sabotage her. We support you, Serena. In the meantime, we salute the greatest Grammy fail not to happen on stage at the Staples Center."

I bet this girl is so happy you're defending her. Nice diss btw, "you're an idiot, that's real!"
The fact that someone may or may not be defending her is most definitely the least of this woman's worries, I am sure.

That's so sad, I hope she's ok. I'm all for making fun of douches and idiots but the poor woman possibly had a stroke...nothing funny about that. Best wishes to her.

I'd still fuck Keith Richards.
That sounds like aphasia. Anyone of any age can have a stroke and suffer from aphasia (the speech-language disorder that often occurs as a result of strokes/brain injury). She could have had a TIA (which is sometimes called a mini-stroke). They can happen without the person even realizing that something has gone wrong - and with few outward changes, too.
She's young - the chances of a recovery with therapy are good.
She was having a stroke, right?
Our morning radio here in Los Angeles is all over this story. They're playing that clip every chance they get.

Truth. I only watched it thinking it would be something funny like her gettng her words mixed up and maybe slipping out a *bad word* or something. Not a scared and confused woman trying hard to speak and not being able to.
