Chris Robinson Is With Kanye
Well, another card for Kanye West's "Taylor Swift Ain't Shit" Club has been issued and handed over to a second member. And that member is Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes. The hippie Tom Green scratches scalp creatures in his head every night while wondering why any potty-trained person would every thinks that Taylor Swift has talent. Yup, Gay Fish can take three steps back, because Chris is snatching the mic now. Chris said this to Nylon Guys (via E! Online):
"I find it embarrassing that adults are like, 'Taylor Swift is very talented.' She's not. She might be cute, but she's horrible."
Chris then went after the Mileys, RiRis and Ke$hits of the world:
"They have stylists who dress them, they make records with producers who play a chord into the computer and it all comes out the same...When you have computers doing it all for you...there's no individuality. Singing isn't always about being on key; it's about emotionality."
You can't argue with Jesus.
Chris has a point, but it's Taylor Fucking Swift! That's like kicking a blind puppy. Yes, she's 20-years-old and her lyrics sound like they were taken from the inside of a 6th grader's Lisa Frank folder, but she's pretty much harmless.
And yes, most of her songs should be sung by animated princesses twirling in the enchanted forest while a chorus of animal in clothes dance around her.... But obviously, there's a bunch of people into that shit. I'll admit that I sang one of her songs at karaoke the other night, but I try to live my life as though I'm an animated princess just twirling away in the enchanted forest, so that's my excuse.
Oh and Chris forgot to add: "AND BEYONCE HAD ONE OF THE GREATEST VIDEOS OF ALL TIME!!!!111!!!"

Ha ha! That's what I mean by talented singer. Her songs are pure pop genius! Freakin' catchy as hell! It had never crossed my mind that she may have a ghostwriter, actually. All I know is that she co-writes many oof her songs with only 1 or 2 ppl max.(unlike ppl. like Beyonce who co-writes with 5 ppl. or more) and that her biggest hits she wrote herself. But it's something to think about!

--dood...Alanis' last album was excellent, Jewel put out good stuff after that pop stuff, and Crow's latest is getting rave reviews. Don't lose faith just because they're not all over People. You just gotta get on mailing lists and other online networking stuff to keep up with your favorites. Most of them are still making great music. And Alanis is getting better and better with each album-her last one basically cemented her as a great talent, IMO.

A lot of people on here keep bringing up the fact that Chris hasn't had a hit song in like 15 years or whatever but it doesn't matter wether someone has hit songs or not. There are a lot of artists out there that are talented and don't have hits. Having said that, he went after the wrong girl. She may not be Joni Mitchell but she is far from an untalented hack. Nothing she does seems contrived, from her style to her songs. And from what I remember, she got signed on a new and small record label.

er...Black Crowes' songs and um I couldn't get into it. I enjoy rootsy rock music with a country vibe (I like country music as well) but I just couldn't w/ the Black Crowes and have pretty much the same for Kings of Leon.
I agree with him and I think that Taylor Swift's music is ear-splitting, but I don't think she's ever pretended to be above anything or anyone about the industry.
While she may be controlled by the media and her music is heinous, points to her for at least being genuine and not trying to compete with the shock value whores who honestly are the ones who delude themselves they're seriously somehow more special and, again, "above" the other pop stars or thinks she knows something the rest of them don't. She has much less ego.
So she gets a pass. Other than John Mayer, it's never the soft rock/contemporary pop/pop country singers who try to pass themselves off as anything greater than what they actually are.
And while her music video that won over Beyonce's single ladies was cliche'd at best, at least she tried to make it into an interesting video, unlike dancing clumsily in front of a green screen. The set of that video must have been $30, tops.

I don't know that it's entirely fair to pick on Taylor. There are plenty of other artists that deserve it. She has songwriting talent and can play guitar. Yes, I know that there are plenty of ppl out there who are better. Fiona Apple comes to mind since she was 17/18 when she wrote her songs for her debut and her music was deeper and she had a womanly voice. Taylor may appeal mostly to tweens but she's a good girl. She is more sheltered, and she just probably wants to make music that teens like. I think if her voice gets better, if she attempts to sound older and if she writes songs that aren't meant to be radio friendly she will change a lot of ppls minds. I think in a few years she'll get better.
