Gisele Bundchen Thinks There Should Be A Worldwide Breastfeeding Law

Me and my brother were fed "chemical food" because my Mum couldn't breast feed and we are just fine. We're both healthy, a normal weight, tall and smart.

If people breast feed then that's up to them, but people shouldn't feel like they have to or they are a failure because they can't. Bottle feed is perfectly safe and healthy.

My argument for forced breastfeeding is- What if youre a drug addict? A boozer? Wouldnt it be wiser to formula feed than to take the chance with trace amounts of your drug-of-choice/alcohol that may be found in breastmilk? Not every woman is who births a baby is clean and sober.

Although giving your baby the breast CAN be the best feeding option. A woman should not be forced to by a law.

Yes, breastmilk is free, yes, it contains the anti bodies needs to help build your childs immunities, yes, it has (in most healthy women) the correct "fat content" for your child.

In a perfect world, sure.

Aside from the women who can't breastfeed due to low supply, baby refusing, etc. Do we really want to force women, who for their own selfish reasons continue to drink, use drugs, etc to breastfeed? It's one thing to promote breastfeeding as the best option, but another to force those who DON'T due to drinking/drugs/medical issues.

Like we really need anymore fucked up kids out there?

I agree broadly that its a matter of personal choice but I also think that lifestyle factors and physical limitations come into play. For instance, I expressed milk partly because I have very heavy, dense breasts. My boobs were just too huge for my babies to handle (and I ran the risk of smothering them -- truly). Thing is -- nobody tells women this stuff. Nobody says "oh your weird big ass titties might make it a problem" or your flat nipples or whatever it is that makes it hard. So then when women try and they can't do it, they feel discouraged and down on themselves for failing and there is hardly anything out there about successfully bottle feeding expressed breast milk. Had I not figured it out on my own, my kids would not have been feed breast milk. I think there needs to be more real information (not propoganda) out there.

Plus, lets not forget that its like everything else in America -- its the current thing. 50 years ago, women of a certain class would not be caught dead with their titty in a baby's mouth.

Personal choice. Nothing more, nothing less. I do feel, however, that women who overpreach "breast is best" are doing a huge diservice to those who want to but can't because of supply. My three ultimately were formula fed and are no worse for the wear though it broke my heart to throw in the towel with my third when eight weeks in, he was only 4 ounces over birthweight on the boob.

My supply dried up after my 1st birth because of the meds I as on to prevent a stroke (pre-eclamptic), my 2nd I tried SO hard to BF and gave up, my 3rd I REFUSED to give up and was successfull (yay!). To lump all women into HER idea of how things should work is WRONG.. It's that militant attitude that me and my friends talk about- and she's a doula!

I expressed breast milk for my now 10 month old twins. I couldnt really manage them both on the boob and let me tell you, pumping enough milk to supply two babies was a full time job and I could only do it because I was fortunate enough (hear that bitch ass Giselle -- its a privilege that all women can't afford) to be able to stay home with them. If I had to work then there would be no tittay milk. I'm now down to feeding them only 1 bottle of breastmilk per night.

My friend back in London just had a baby and those bitch ass midwives were telling her that she might as well feed her baby fried food and candy and that she's going to give him a heart attack if she gives him formula. Seriously, the baby was STARVING cause her milk wasnt in and they were using la leche league fearmongering on this helpless women whose baby was screaming from hunger. I told her "DONT STARVE YOUR FUCKING CHILD!!!" I hate people like that! HATE them!!

My first couldn't breastfeed so I pumped and still felt guilty because *gasp* he was using a bottle (full of breast milk). That's how bad the breastfeeding nazis are here. The second had no problems breastfeeding. Here's the funny thing: I had birth depression with both that did not lift until I stopped producing milk. So Gisele, go suck on that titbit (on purpose typo) and STFU. Hopefully real life will kick her in the ass soon and she'll realize what a dickhead she's being. I was like that BEFORE my kids. Haha, life kicked me in the ass hard and I got over it, thank god! ;)

I guess it's a good thing the dumb ho isn't in charge of the laws. I will most likely have to start taking heart medication for a while in the next few months. I can become pregnant while taking it, but the dosage has to lowered to almost non-existent. But I can't breast feed while taking it, because the medication would really hurt the child.

While breastfeeding my first, I was a low producer. Mostly due to the fact I was uneducated about HOW to keep my supply up and I had a lazy nurser. But I kept it up for a year, pumping while at work, so he received, boobie juice through me and a bottle, but I had to supplement with formula, the first few month and I introduced him to mushed foods by the third month because "I" just wasn't enough for him.

Now the second one. Damn. That kid had the Hoover system for sucking and I was a damn lactating fucking cow.

My bitch-ass sister-in-law was adamant that she would breastfeed her kid. But the kid couldn't get the hang of latching on, and within a few weeks the poor thing was starving and losing weight and crying all the time. But my SIL was "No! No! I'm gonna breastfeed and that's it! I'll be a terrible mother if I don't!". The pediatrician told her to get over it and put the kid on formula already.

Now it's 10 years later, and SIL can barely bother to look after her kids, let alone worry about what they eat. Kid turned out fine, despite his dumbass mom.

What a stupid bitch. Some women just can't do it. Some babies never figure out how to latch on. Those mothers should not be made to feel like pariahs because it didn't work out. I know some women who are seriously scarred because they can't breastfeed and feel like failures.

That said, I think all who can breastfeed should. It is truly the best food for a baby. You can even use formula as a supplement if your milk supply doesn't turn out to be enough for the baby. I did that in the beginning because my son was born really small. I don't think it should be mandated (obviously!), but it's a really good thing. If someone can't do it, fine. Just don't be a piece of shit like someone I know who didn't breastfeed simply because she wanted to smoke like she did through her whole pregnancy. That's just fucking selfish. I used to smoke and there are days that I would LOOOOOOVE a cigarette. Fortunately I love my baby more than nicotine!

This woman is obnoxious. I don't have kids but I can't stand this sort of sanctimonious stance that women who bfeed are somehow better, more attentive, more invested mothers. I imagine it's already enormously hard to be a parent without this added pressure. My good friend had breast cancer at 26 and a double mastectomy, followed by many surgeries that made her unable to bfeed. Whether you can't or just CHOOSE not to nurse, it should be your own business.
