Gisele Bundchen Thinks There Should Be A Worldwide Breastfeeding Law
If you're a mother who does not breastfeed her newborn baby, Gisele Buttchin thinks you should be imprisoned immediately and forced to hand over your kid to Salma Hayek. Or something along those lines.
Gisele, who has been a mother for all of 8-months, thinks there should be a law on the books that states all mothers should squirt chichi leche into their babies' mouths NO MATTER WHAT! Gisele tells Harper's Bazaar (via Press Associated):
"I think breastfeeding really helped me keep my figure. Some people here (in the US) think they don't have to breastfeed, and I think 'Are you going to give chemical food to your child when they are so little?' I think there should be a worldwide law, in my opinion, that mothers should breastfeed their babies for six months."
The highly important committee that is in charge of passing worldwide laws will get on that as soon as they pass a law stating that Gisele Bundchen needs to keep her pie hole shut in public. No, but seriously...
I don't know how easy breastfeeding is, but I'm sure if every mother could do it she would. I mean, why waste your money on formula when you can spend it on painkillers and other substances that will ease your nerves when baby is screeching in the middle of the night. Right?

I just have to say I wish this bitch would shut her mouth. My daughter didn't take to breastfeeding right away and was in the NICU for three weeks but I worked my ass off pumping and breastfeeding at the hospital for those 3 weeks.
I was able to nurse her for close to 4 months but I got sick, and was put on meds for several weeks. Thus the end of breastfeeding.

O please (to the thread, in general). Everybody has different experiences...some people find it hard and some people just don't like it. SO WHAT?! WHO CARES!? Women are weak for not breastfeeding, crazy for breastfeeding too long, losers for not figuring it out quickly enuff, heroes (and/or crazy) for breastfeeding the neighbour's children (becuz, you know, if you have trouble breastfeeding they have milk banks for that), giving them formula, feeding them baby food too young, to old, at all....
What is the goal? To create a healthy happy environment in which we can all live in freedom and joy? Or to make everybody and their gramma feel bad cuz they're not just like "us"?

Breast feeding is hard, it does not come naturally. Its easy for her because she has people to help...she doesnt need to cook or clean while trying to nurse a baby (which can take up to an hour or more in the early weeks) I'm saying this politely Gisele, shut the hell up! You arent living in the real world, you have no idea what its like to raise a baby without an army of paid helpers

I've been reading the comments...I only got to page 2....but so many women even though they think Giselle is a stupid bitch for talking shit still feel the need to explain how they breastfed for over a year, etc and loved it. My point: Even though all of us agree that it's the woman's choice, we still need to justify ourselves by announcing how we breast fed because it is considered the right thing to do. No matter what we say about women's rights, we all know deep down that nursing is the best thing to do for our babies. That's why so many mothers are so proud to announce how long they breastfed for and how they stuck it out, etc. Good mothers breastfeed. Bad mothers do not. That's the way most of us think. Reading some of these posts breaks my heart because I tried EVERYTHING. I took reglan that made me semi-nuts just to produce enough milk. Fenugreek? A bottle a week. Mother's Tea, I bought GNC out. When I gave up and fed my daughter a bottle of formula for the first time and saw how hungry she was and how she guzzled it down, I cried like a baby because I realized that I couldn't nurse. I felt like a failure and more importantly I was starving my poor little girl and didn't even know it. Gisele has no idea how many women are heartbroken over the fact that they can't nurse and she has no sophistication or class to say something so insensitive and ignorant.

The women that defend other women for not BF'ing sure have every excuse in the book. I had 2 C-sections my second was 9 lbs. It really doesnt matter if you have a C-section or vaginal birth a horomone triggers the milk. I had implants. I BF both babies until 4 months old. I think she is talking about women who are too lazy to breastfeed and don't want to be bothered with it. you know the ones that have the baby then bottle feed it from day one and then everyone else feeds but mom. Goes back to work and hires a nanny or a babysitter when the baby is only a month old. Un-nurturing mothers like that.

some mothers HAVE to have C-sections or have very bad complications with labor and ended up spending the first week of the baby's life in the hospital on morphine, how are those mothers supposed to breastfeed without harming the baby? There are tons of reasons NOT to breastfeed just as there are just as many TO do so, every woman is different just because rich bitch was able to do so doesnt mean she needs to be running her mouth. I had to supplement, he simply was not getting enough to eat. It's just how my body is, and those ladies were downright nasty to me like I was less of a woman for it. Fuck that.
Oh fuck off! I had my son (10 lbs) and I tried to breastfeed but couldn't due to difficulties. When I say difficulties, I mean not enough milk etc and yes I did pump AND use formula as long as I could.
Those Milk Mom's are fucking BITCHES in the hospital if you can't give all your baby needs and need formula.
Yeah, it should be a mother's choice, but most people who "aren't able to breastfeed" aren't able to because they start using formula occasionally, and then more and more often because there isn't enough milk being made because of the supplementing. It's a cycle that I've been in myself. If you don't supplement with formula, your body will make enough milk. People think that not having enough milk is a normal thing that just happens for no reason, but it isn't. It's actually extremely rare among people who don't supplement. Of course, if you have a premie or you have to work and can't work out breastfeeding with that schedule, you don't have a lot of choice. If you have to supplement, you have to supplement.

I'm sure breastfeeding really is the best, and I'm not having kids so I don't have a horse in this race anyway, but is she *seriously* advocating legislation that would force all mothers to breastfeed? Like others here have said, some just can't and some babies don't take to the tit. I don't know if it has already been mentioned, but it has been disproved that breast feeding helps you shed the pounds faster. Even the dumb asses at Parents magazine have printed the studies.
Also, some women have to work full time to support their child, for whatever reason, and cannot breast feed consistently. Maybe mom is on some sort of medication that will pass through her milk, maybe she had a breast reduction.
I am a huge proponent of breastfeeding, I really do wish every woman would at least try it, and I breastfed my child, but to act like it is something that will work for everyone is delusional.

Yes, there are plenty of benefits of breastfeeding... but not everyone has the patience for it and NOT everyone can even do it. Some women have problems doing it. It's amazing how in the 60's and 70's it was almost unheard of to breastfeed and now all of a sudden we have the likes of Gisele saying it should be a law!! STFU!

Technically I didnt breastfeed my youngest because he was so premature he just wouldnt latch! So I chose to pump for 9 months and bottle feed and boy was that a fucking bitch. I chose not to breastfeed my daughter. I had a hard time with my son, and my working conditions don't really allow for pumping, so she was formula fed from birth. She's now a year old and a smiley, hilarious happy and HEALTHY girl. So Gisele can take her opinion, mix it with some oats and sugar cubes and shove it up her no-ass.
