The blind item about a celebrity coming out on the cover of People Magazine on Wednesday has apparently been solved. Put your magnifying glass down, Detective La Toya.

Gawker, Queerty and TMZ are all pointing their fingers at country singer Chely Wright. Or as 99% of the population know her as, WHO???!!!? Seriously, they could've at least given us Kenny Chesney!

Chely's publicist is Howard Bragman and she has a book, Like Me: Confessions of a Heartland Country Singer, and an album, Lifted Off the Ground, coming out on Thursday, so it all makes sense that she will be the one declaring her love for vagina on the cover of People this week. And nothing gets you noticed like a bunch of conservative country fans asking Walmart to ban your CD because you've got "tha lesbiansessual sicks." Although, I don't even know if they're going to care.

I wonder what the headline will be for Chely's People Magazine cover. I hope it's one of these four:

1. Chely Wright (Google her, you dumb fuck!) is a lesbian!
2. Chely Wright (Yeah, we don't know either) is a lesbian!
3. Chely Write says: "I'm Gay!" Mariah Carey's response is: "I don't know her"
4. Harpo, who dis woman?

Anyways, congratulations to Chely for sharing her gayelleness with the world, even thought it is a publicity stunt.

If you have a big announcement to make and have more than 50 Twitter followers, hit up People magazine because they will probably give you the cover.

I actually have two songs of hers on my computer. I downloaded them years ago. One is called "It Was" and the other is called "Never Love You Enough". I think they both were semi-country hits. Not sure since I'm not really into country, but I liked those two songs enough to download them. If that's a recent picture, then the woman has not aged at all, because that is what she looked like several years ago.

I gotta say this one took me by surprise. There are plenty of cUntry singers who I think (and know) have a case of the gays and Chely never crossed my mind. I lived in Nashville when she was on the upswing of her career. I never heard anything but nice things about her and that she is a very kind person. She does a lot of charity work and has always been extremely supportive of our soldiers. Good for her that she doesn't have to hide who she is anymore.

She had some cheesy song called "He's a good ol' boy!" in like 1993. And a stupid song called "Bumper of my SUV" about the war in Iraq in which she says "I'm not a Republican or a Democrat." I think the point of the song is to support the troops no matter what your political affiliation is, not making a political stance.

I'm not a huge fan of country music, but can appreciate talent. That said, it would've been more meaningful if she had come out at the height of her career instead of when she hasn't generated a hit in years.

Zomay, I agree up to a point. People still does have great stories about cancer survivors and things like that. And they don't make up bullshit just to sell mags. The other two have no human interest stories and do make things up. But who is to blame for that? Us! Not you and me, but a society who has an insatiable desire to know about celebs. I remember her from the late 90s. I used to work at a country music radio station and met her once. Didn't think anything of it - dozens of pretty people with a record to promote strolled through the station and then you never heard anything else about them.

I think there was some big deal about her escorting some kid to prom. I think he won a contest or something.

Well I knew it wasn't Queen Latifah. She has a movie, "Mr. Wright" coming out May 14th. And although celebs love controversy right before a project comes out I don't think it would have worked this time. "Mr. Wright" is a romantic comedy in which QL is supposed to fall in love with Common...doesn't work if she's not into men.
