I understand that Gabby Sidibe has the resources to lose weight because she's practically wealthy, but for many people, inane macrobiotic diets, personal cooks, and surgery isn't an option.

Counting calories works best anyway. If you don't enjoy your eating plan, then you might lose weight, but you'll probably gain all of it back later on. I've realized that the most effective weight loss plan is to eat smaller amounts of what you want and exercise.

When you get older (talking about getting near 40), your metabolism slows down and you slowly start gaining more weight. You have to either eat less or work out more (I know because before I knew it, just working out and eating the same way I had done in my 20s ans 30s, I had gained 80 lbs). It took a year to drop the 80 (without surgery thank you) but I have to eat a little less every day or exercise a little more for the rest of my life because I'm getting older.
I feel bad for Brosnan's wife, because people constantly hold you to a standard of a 20 year old and she was smokin' hot back then and she's obviously aged, but on the other hand, I think girl just exercise a little bit more or eat a little less because aging is a mo-fo.

PTL - while I agree that Gabourey suffers from obesity, I think she's still young enough to deal with it with diet and exercise IF it's just a case of poor nutritional choices. If it's due to a trauma (which it often can be), then I hope she seeks more professional treatment. She's a beautiful girl and a wonderful actress, I only wish her the best.

I agree she not only should lose weight for her health, but let's face it, if she wants to get more roles in Hollywood (which she deserves because she's an excellent actress) she's not going to get many roles at her current size. Unfortunately we've seen this before - look at the actresses who played the lead in "Hairspray"; they can sing, dance etc, but are left out of romantic-comedy leads because they don't fit the type.
