Alaina Reed Hall Has Passed Away At The Age Of 63
Some of you may know Alaina Reed Hall as Olivia from Sesame Street, a role she played for 12 years. But I came to know and love Alaina as Rose, Mary's tag team partner against the gold digging Soooondra on 227. Sadly, Alaina went off to the great big brownstone in the sky on December 17th in Los Angeles. Alaina had been battling breast cancer for quite some time. She was 63.
After 227 wrapped up, Alaina went on to play roles in Cruel Intentions, Herman's Head, Death Becomes Her, Cleghorne!, Ally McBeal and A Different World.
Alaina is survived by her husband Tamim Amini, as well as her two children from a previous marriage.

Thanks Michael for reporting on this. I had heard on Facebook that she had passed on but it was not widely reported since Brittney Murphy got most of the attention. She was a wonderful actress and I do remember her fondly.
I know she faced a lot in her life, including the death of her husband many years ago. I hope she is finally at peace and I hope TV land plays a block of her 227 episodes.

It is so true! This has been the year from hell for me too. I can't think of one day that was not fucked-up by my health and depression. Maybe because I passed a big age milestne, but I can't wait for 2009 to be over!

Oh my. Miss Olivia on Sesame Street was one reason the Voodoo Chile has that name. And she was so damn funny on 227, perfectly paired with Marla Gibbs (a show the VC and I watched every Sat night).
I hope she's reunited with her late husband and father of her children, Kevin. Blessings to her widower, children and family.

I watch vintage Sesame Street with my papoose and I remember her well from my childhood, too. I even watched 227 more times than i wanna admit and she was a solid actress. Man, 63 seems young to me.
