well a comedone is a black head or a white head ( white head is a close comedone , a black one is an open comedone ) ,when your pore gets clogged a comedone is formed when is open due to oxidation it turns brown or black, mainly in the nose area !
now for the technique , most dermatologist will tell you to leave them alone , but unless you use a product with glycolic acid or salicylic acid at least 2%
the chances are they stay forever (well not really but they wont go away ) so extractions are ok unless they use a lot of pressure or use a mini needle to open it , in most spas they use fingers because you need a special certification to use tools , since they have to be sterilized between patients, ask her what she uses and make sure she sterilizes every single tool used on your face and never let anyone try to pop a comedone with a needle this is very dangerous and can turn into an ugly infection !
fingers and extractors are ok for as long as IT DOES NOT HURT !
The comedone needs to pop like toothpaste otherwise leave it for a few days and try again !

The last time, the girl did something on the side of my forehead, and when I asked what she did, she said you had a large comedone there.

about the facial , facial with extractions are ok as long as they don't press too hard ( fingers or comedone extractor , be specially careful is they use the second one ), also be careful the steam is not hurting it needs to open the pore but not make u feel uncomfortable , i would do peelings and more skin aggressive things at a dermatologist , spas and cosmeticians are ok for mild things , but no i would not do a peeling at a spa.
a real peeling is actually very aggressive and you will need to stay at home after the procedure because the ph they use , wether is AFA's or glycolic acid is very high and it will make your skin red , swollen and will give you a burning sensation , after maybe 20 to 30 min this is removed an a neutralizer is used to stop the peeling , this is a very delicate thing and done wrong can cause you a second degree burn or even scarring , do it better at a doctors office .
