A police officer in Arkansas was suspended with pay after he tasered a 10-year-old girl who was throwing a fit on the floor. The officer was not suspended for electrocuting the girl. He was suspended because he did not have a camera with him to record the incident. The police department was probably pissed about the camera thing, because they figured footage like that would've won them first place on America's Funniest Home Videos. Ugh.
It all started when the 10-year-old refused to take a shower and go to bed. The girl did what most 10-year-olds do when they don't get their way - she threw a fit. Most good mothers would give the girl a cocktail or a bong to calm her down. But this dumb ass mother called the police.
When Officer Dustin Bradshaw showed up to the home, he found the girl (who is 4'6" and weighs 65 pounds) screaming and kicking. According to the police report, the mother told Officer Dustin that he could tase her if he needed to. Officer Bradshaw wrote in the report that he tried to get the girl to stop by telling her she was going to jail, but homegirl was not scared. She is obviously a proud graduate of Latarian Milton's University of Hood Rat Stuff.
Officer Dustin stepped up his game and tried to handcuff the girl. She fought with him and ended up kicking him in the nuts. That's when Officer Dustin said he "lightly stunned" her in the back. The girl stopped fighting and Officer Dustin was able to handcuff her. She wouldn't walk, so he had to carry her to the police car. She was then transported to a youth shelter.
The police chief pretty much stood by his officer's decision. He said that the girl will be charged with disorderly conduct and the officer won't face additional disciplinary action.
The girl's father however wants the Arkansas State Police to investigate the incident. If they won't, he's going to ask the FBI for help. He said, "My daughter does not deserve to be tased and be treated like an animal."
Everyone is going CRAZY! Babies are getting slapped by strange pepaws at Wal-Mart! Kids are getting maced by drag queens on the subway! And now little girls are getting tasered by police officers while their mothers shake their heads in approval. What the hell is next? We shouldn't be surprised if we hear about a kindergarten teacher engaging in a shoot out with her students on the playground.

Yes. The cops are nasty as hell in the US, depending on what state you live in.
The police report shows only the cop's side of the story, and it's all about CYA.
I would tend to believe that the cop became infuriated when the kid kicked him in the balls and just reacted in anger.
From my experience, many cops are just time bombs waiting to explode.
For all we know, the cop may have magnified the episode to cover himself for tasering. Maybe she wasn't even as bad as he said....
We'll never know. She has no say, the cop's word rules.

I emailed it to a friend in suburban australia and it had been on the news there! I think if there were mitigating circumstances we would have heard by now. The event happened 8 days ago.

This angers me to no end! When will the cops be reigned in, and not be allowed to abuse citizens whenever they choose?
Since when is it a crime to pitch a fit on the floor of your own home? The cop threatens to take the 10 year old CHILD to jail for throwing a fit on the floor? At that point, all she had done was yell and kick on the floor, yet he somehow has the "authority" to take her to jail for that? These power-hungry and power-abusive cops need to lose their jobs after being tased about a hundred times. Some children are evil from the get go no matter how good the parents might be or the upbringing. And I disagree with those who say children don't understand...They understand a lot of things...besides, little children can be trained...they don't get a free pass just because they are little.
They learn quickly they have the law on their side. My cousin's son threatened to call the police once on her and he was only 6yo at the time. My cousin's response: If you call they will take you away to live in an institution until strangers take you in and you will never see us again. That stopped him in his tracks and he never tried to pull that one again. The motherfucker KNEW he had it good and was not about to part with his cushy life. So they UNDERSTAND and very well indeed.

Okay, it's fine for a Cop to abuse a kid, but if I spank mine at Walmart for trying to tear up something, I go to jail and my kids go to CPS???? WTF is going on today????

First of all, I think the mother was an idiot to invite the authorities into her life.
Secondly, you pick your battles. Unless the kid was rolling in pigshit, who CARES if she doesn't shower? If my kids balk at brushing their teeth, I say "Fine with me. Be a Yuck Mouth. You know what the dentist does if you have cavities, don't you?" It's their choice and they always choose to brush. Same with the bath. If they don't want to, I tell them they can smell like camels and no one will want to play with them. And then I walk away.
When it comes to other things, however, I am a total hardass and once had a battle with the 3 year old which concluded with me throwing two full garbage bags of her toys away. She found the limit THAT day.
The mothers fault. Why even call the police? Better to battle it out will against will. Clearly if the mother is feeling so threatened by the daughter that she needs to call the police, there's something severely wrong in the atmosphere of this entire household. I would go so far as to say the mother is a HORRIBLE mother. The policeman is an idiot. It amazes me every time things like this happen. The mother could pin the girl down for handcuffs alone. But the mother and the police officer should have been plenty. Tasers are horrible instruments and they are being misused at record rates. Technology stinging us in the ass again.

I got my share of spanking as a child and I knew very well why I was getting them. My mother could be driving down the road with me and my brother fighting in the back seat and bitch could smack the dog shit out of both of us at the same time and not even swerve!! Fucking amazing I tell ya. She didn't miss a beat, just kept cruising along. Sheeesh.

As a parent it is YOUR responsibility to enforce the rules and when you say something, follow through with it, if they throw a fit, put em to bed, if they continue, smack their ass and tell them good night. Even if it's fucking noon.

That was the general punishment when my kid was younger. I threw out her toys. And it's why I didn't have to work so hard later too. I'd say: "Keep it up and the Polly Pockets go." And out they went. For the longest time after (a couple of those) all I had to say was: Keep it up and... and she'd pull herself together.
And you can rationalize with a kid at almost any age. But you need time. It's slow. It takes time for them to hear you, to understand, to communicate. It's VERY slow but it totally doable 90% of the time. We don't, in our society, have a lot of time, generally. Slapping is a lot faster.

Some children are evil from the get go no matter how good the parents might be or the upbringing. And I disagree with those who say children don't understand...They understand a lot of things...besides, little children can be trained...they don't get a free pass just because they are little.
They learn quickly they have the law on their side. My cousin's son threatened to call the police once on her and he was only 6yo at the time. My cousin's response: If you call they will take you away to live in an institution until strangers take you in and you will never see us again. That stopped him in his tracks and he never tried to pull that one again. The motherfucker KNEW he had it good and was not about to part with his cushy life. So they UNDERSTAND and very well indeed.
