Probably no one will agree with me but... Shakira - her earliest days - dark natural wavy hair - EASILY and by far the most beautiful look she's ever had.

I just recently saw the video from She Wolf for the first time. IMO Shakira's dancing nowadays is so far out there and over the top that she looks like she's having a seizure. no true rasta call them hair dreads or dread locks. dread was how they were called during the days when rastas were seen as bad, lowest of society. they are called locks... and shakira dont have permanent locks, those could be de-tangle and go back to normal hair style just by looking at them. seen many nice locks and when well done on natural looking hair (don't look good at all on her bleached hair here), it looks very nice. much nicer than some of the poor examples posted underneath.

It really was. I actually saw it with my mom, who also remembers old Shakira, and it was just sad because she does have talent. Even when Gwen Stefani went pop she kept the same look and it still sounded like the songs off of No Doubt's last album, which was dancehall inspired. And with her, there's the sense that the pop stuff is tongue-in-cheek. With Shakira, not so much. Shakira does sound like a nice person in interviews, but then I see her videos and know that's she's better than that.

I remember when Shakira was a hippie-ish singer-songwriter who looked and sounded a little like Alanis Morrisette. Then she bleached her hair, told Latina Magazine she wanted to be the next Madonna, and now she's just another blonde pop star who shakes her ass for a living. If dreadlocks are some sad attempt to return to her roots (no pun intended) it's not working.
