At yesterday's Values Voters conference in DC, reporters from both MSNBC (above) and Fox News (below) were told to shut their gaping whore mouths because the audience couldn't hear the speakers. And they were so damn polite about it too! No punches were thrown, NO MICS WERE SNATCHED (nod to Kanye) and no children were hurt.
If this was an abuelita convention, chanklas would be up asses, wire hangers would be flying across the room and bitches would have knots in their heads. Seriously, if I ever interrupted my abuelita's favorite novela (SPOILER ALERT: Carrusel), I'd get a slap in the mouth. And she'd wear all her biggest rings too.
I mean, look at Mumble McMumbles below. He's trying to shush up the Fox News reporter, but I can't understand a word he's saying. If I was the reporter, I'd be really confused and just tell the dude I'll have the veal with a glass of Merlot. Mumbles belongs in a Twin Peaks episode.

healthcare is a right. period. & to address people frowning upon making illegals, legal, really think about that. wouldn't you rather these people be legal & paying taxes as opposed to staying here illegally not paying taxes yet reaping the same benefits if not better ones? big corporation doesn't want to legalize them, because they then would have to pay more, & they should. our emergency rooms are flooded with minor medical issues, because people don't have health care, which then drives the costs of healthcare up. taken from a conversation i had with my ex regarding the state of our world, he has a phd in economics & lectures at the university of ireland (for those that need his credentials). i hope you really read this carefully & take it to heart, americans are so afraid of anything new or change. & don't speak for our forefathers & what they want & rant about the constitution, because i, for one, don't believe they had wal-mart in mind & the rich getting richer while people worked for basically slave wages unable to provide basic needs for their families. we are ALL supposed to be equal remember?... without religious persecution, which we still essentially are free to worship whom we choose:

You could argue that he should have left them collapse but then America would have no indigenous car industry... all the governments of Europe hold stakes in banks, airline companies, car companies, transport operators etc. It just means that the tax payer is represented in corporate decisions. In Germany the workers, the state and investors all have equal power in running companies such as Volkswagen (they make terrible cars don't they? such as Audi's Porsche's, Lamborghini's, Bugatti's and Bentleys!).
WHoever wrote that is hysterical unless you see Europe as being a communist dictatorship...
I don't agree with much of Obamas doings but not because he's some kind of socialist, I disagree because he's using state money to rescue a corrupt capitalist system. But what would I know, I'm just a modestly incomed, modestly backgrounded, well traveled, healthy educated middle class European, brought up in the communist dictatorship of Ireland...

Yeah, I think the bottom line is: you just never know what the future holds. I truly believe that most people who don't work are not doing so b/c they are lazy. They either got laid off or are physically/mentally/emotionally/personally (as in, maybe they have to take care of a sick relative) unable to. This country was built on being independent...that's like, hard-coded into our DNA. So most people here don't LIKE having to ask for help, they find it embarrassing. (which they really shouldn't). Sure, there are bad apples out there, but they shouldn't ruin it for everyone else.

@Evil Shoe, I hope that you never become so ill you have to be out of work for months at a time. Or have a debilitating disease that causes you so much pain that it keeps you from walking or standing for long periods of time so it keeps you from working, not because you don't want to but because you simply can't. Sometimes things happen that are beyond your control and are unfair. So if something like that happens who is going to care for you? God? This is why its good to have social programs such as social security disability and health care should be available to all without worry.
I find it sad that so many nice people such as yourself don't see it this way. And then there are the morons such as Palin, Limbaugh and Beck who are stirring the pot on purpose to scare people into being hateful assholes. I must confess I'm a little bit tired of this country and its selfish attitudes. I work hard and never expect a hand out but it would be nice to know that there is a safety net out there incase I should ever need one.

All I can say is that you have something that not all other people have. What you've done takes a skill - either you were born with the talent or somewhere along the line you were able to learn how to
1.have faith (becuz we live with so much instant gratification, it's hard for a lot of people to grasp the idea of working towards something over time - when they do, they're mostly just lulled by a system they've allowed themselves to become part of.)
2.manage money (that's a real skill, I have much the same story and I'm fucked, financially)
3. avoid disaster (that's a big part of the reason I'm fucked, but not the whole reason - I made some mistakes, not glaring errors; I'm still kinda here:). Like that girl who got attacked by the tree - her whole life has changed now just for her hospital bills. Can you imagine where you'd be at right now if that had happened to you along the way...? Altho there are a number of simpler things that could happen that could have the same effect.
I'm not saying each responsible person should be carrying 10 irresponsible people on their back. I'm saying that, sometimes, it's not about responsibility. I feel like, sometimes, when you guys think about health care you jump straight to the idea of the very worst person imaginable receiving it and skip out all the people in between.
And you guys never talk about regulations. Or steps along the way. It's always all or nothing...
And when I think about responsibility, I also think about the responsibilities of our leaders to design a society where that is unlikely to happen becuz people get what they need in ALL areas of life to help them avoid it. I think about the idea that earning potential should be based on the value that the work brings to the society as a whole to support that avoidance.

I don't agree with that. When I was in my late teens to early twenties I went to college, the college closed down in mid-session, I had to fight the State of Florida for five years to absolve the loan. During that time I could not take out another loan and I had to pay off the loan I was fighting until it was resolved.
I worked three jobs in retail and for an attorney and saved every last dime I had. I have never had a car payment (I own three newer cars), or owed anything but my mortgage (which is almost paid off after five years) and I have NO college degree - yet. I pay for all of my schooling out-of-pocket. I have friends that have masters degrees that are so in debt with cars, three mortgages on one house etc...
If I can be successful, anyone can. I hate hearing that someone won't help themselves and asks for handouts, fuck that, get off your ass stop wasting money on shit and work for what you want.

Actually, let me add more. If this healthcare bill (which one doesn't actually exist - yet) was absolutely FREE I would have an issue with it. As it stands we will be paying for it, and have a penalty if we have no insurance, BUT if you are a student or poor you will be helped while you need it. That I agree with.
Having the businesses with an penalty less than what it cost to do actually insure employees to force people into public option is what I object to. As well as having illegals being given amnesty to make them legal then handing them insurance/benefits etc... Think it wouldn't happen? See Obama's speech the other day.
I am not opposed to an Healthcare overhaul, just government intervention of everything in this country at this rate. If Healthcare passes with a public option, we will be at around 49% for government involvement, that is more than other countries (around 42%). That's too much.
