Really? Where? Cause I looked into adopting in the US and guess what? There aren't ten million kids needing homes. And all those kids in foster care? See, foster care is not an adoption agency. Nope. Me too. Some foundation sites are different - they include a lot of information about the founders and the staff and so on...but all she's got is a page saying: Pay us and then PET ADOPTION event listings. It's a little offensive. But I'm guessing it's the only way she felt she could get her pics out to the media without looking like the whore she is...they're not exactly personal home photos, right?

This womn is virtually unknowm in the UK so I have no comment to make about her- except....why do so many slebs adopt?I'm not saying it isn't wonderful thing to do but it's very hard to adopt in the UK and yet slebs seme able to pop over to Babies R Us and collect a set with great ease. I understand what you're saying, basically charity begins at home, but to denigrate an innocent baby is despicable. That baby is adorable, besides. You know, babies in other countries like Haiti, parts of Korea and China suffer under deplorable conditions like we in America will never know, so if Heigl wants to adopt a Korean baby, more power to her. I think it's great and more people should adopt--domestically or from another country.

oh and i don't know what anybody said about adoption ,but adoption is a wonderful thing and you are giving a chance to someone with nothing the tools to a great life , so good for her and good for anyone considering adoption anywhere! and to take the focus away from angelina and other celebrities i like to think about jamie lee curtis whom has talked about adoption and seems like a great mother . there i said it and that's that ok.

well i was reading in CDAN that enty made the comment about heigl or whatever her name adopting a baby and i think he is very into this inside celebrity scoop and well what i recall is that he said she was doing the right thing and it was not a fake publicity stuff and he also mentioned her sister being korean , so in my opinion and my opinion only i think she loves the child and well good for her , i don't like the c word so let's just say that even sour people can be good parents ok and unless in some months we see a nanny carrying that child around while she smokes i will give her the benefit of the doubt.

First of all, bouquets to you for adopting!

I was a year old when my parents adopted me, but I was given up for adoption at birth, meaning I spent the interim time in foster homes. I had a name when my parents got me, but at a year old was not answering to it (or walking or talking) because I'd never been called by my name. So they changed it to the girl's name that they'd picked out several years ago. Eventually I got old enough to figure out that hey, I would have answered to anything they called me in time. :)

When I met my biological mother years later (she found me), she said she didn't give me the name, she didn't think she would be allowed to. So somewhere along the way a foster family thought to name me.

My original name? Lois. No offense to anyone who has that name, but yuk. :) I'm glad my parents changed it.

I'm certain, since her sister (i think) is adopted, she actually knows what this shit is about and isn't doing it for publicity. Unless you live in a box you would know there is a huge amount of hate towards celebrity adopters and i'm sure she knows this. I'm sure she also knows every one thinks she's a cunt too and this wont help.
Maybe, just maybe, she is genuinely trying to do the right thing, regardless of publicity.
PS: I'm not a hagel fan in any way particularly, I just don't like the hate when its based on shit and directed at someone who most likely has the best of intentions for all we know.

I don't see CandyPerfumeGirl's original comment, just where people have quoted her, and I'm going to take the high road here and just echo what others have said: There is more than one way to make a family. And I can say for certain that my parents do not consider me any less their "own" than their two biological sons.

The adoption situation in the US is complicated, and I really wish that it would get some attention and a badly needed overhaul. It's actually less expensive to get fertility treatments than it is to adopt a newborn or infant.

And then many agencies strongly discourage or disallow interracial adoption, so you either adopt an older child (not that they need love any less), a handicapped or special needs child, or you wait forever and get prepared to spend thousands and thousands of dollars.

It's nothing like it was when I was adopted, and it's basically become a huge moneymaking venture for family lawyers. I would imagine that the reason so many celebrities adopt from outside of the US has more to do with the waiting than the money issues.

That being said, the little girl is adorable and I wish her and her new family the best.

P.S. Families are made like this all the time, except press releases aren't made about it. :)

I have adopted two children through American foster care...we have so many kids that NEED GOOD HOMES!

Well fo the past 25 years People have been adopting mostly out of the US but the children become Americans. I applaud you "take care of our own" attitude. Now if we can get that message across to the idiot tea parties being held in DC who could care less about their own and basically want their own to drop dead without health insurance.
