Society doesn't really encourage self-respect anymore. Parents get more and more lenient and middle-aged women are into being "cougars" and wearing clothes from teens sections to look young while raising their kids. Mothers want to look like sisters to their kids and as a result they let them and enable them to do dumb stuff to look "cool". As far as fathers, well I guess they're going along for the ride although if you have insight on what the social progression of fathers in this country has been over the years I'd like to hear it.

No, unfortunately most women today have no self-respect. They sell themselves way too short. They act like trash so men treat them like trash.
Being a woman, I can truly say that women are stupid. In the past 2-3 generations, women have made it their mantra that they will behave like men (sex with no strings attached), but nature doesn't allow that and finds a way to intervene. In the end, a woman can act like a "player" all she wants, but she and she alone will be the one to contend with unwanted children, childbirth, abortions, giving children away for adoption, child-rearing, STDS, resultant infertility, emotional heartache, poverty, lack of education, etc. Hell, even in the animal world, males have to prove their worth to females and females are very choosy at picking the best male. After all, females put their very lives in danger giving birth and they spend their lives raising the young. It's a huge investment and even a pea-brained rat knows that. Women (in the US at least) have it backward. They don't let men prove their worth anymore. It's all about "doing whatever the fuck I feel like" or "I'm a slut and proud of it" regardless of the consequences. And there are a hell of a lot of consequences to deal with. For reasons that baffle me, a woman will put out to the biggest loser for what? A thirty second orgasm? A night's approval from said loser? Maybe a shaky relationship for a few months? Sheesh.
