Theater Acting Is Dangerous
Joel Edgerton brought the raw emotion a little too hard during a performance of A Streetcar Named Desire in Australia tonight. During a scene, Joel (who is playing Stanley) chucked a radio which busted into Cate Blanchett's (who is playing Blanche) head. An audience member told the Sydney Morning Herald that Cate hit the floor and she was bleeding from the back of her head.
Head trauma is serious shit, so Cate should've told Joel that she always depends on the kindness of 911, but she kept on acting instead. After about a minute, Cate realized that she was messed up, so she left the stage. A moment later, a stage manager appeared and said there would be an intermission. The curtain never went back up and the performance was canceled.
A rep for Cate said that she's doing absolutely fine and will most likely perform in tonight's show.
Hopefully, instead of Joel throwing an old timey radio, they make him throw a fluffy pillow. Either that or Cate will be wearing a helmet under her wig from now on.

She is just so classy and stunningly beautiful, I've seen her in Australia even chasing her kids around, make up and stylist free she is just raidant. Unlike most of the cheap tarts in hollywood today.
Thank goodness she didn't get her face messed up!

I read that the actor was supposed to throw the radio out a set window, but it slipped and hit Cate instead.

Remember actress Natasha Richardson's sudden tragic death from a ski head injury several months ago? She was walking after hitting her head and didn't even think she needed to see a doctor,and then within a few hours she's got a headache, slipped into a coma and died. She was Liam Neeson's wife, Vanessa Redgrave's daughter and Dame Lynn Redgrave's niece,mother of 2 boys and she was so talented and very nice.
Head injuries are very dangerous. A little hemorrhage in the brain can kill you.

O/T I went to an off off Broadway production a few years back where they were using prop chairs. One particular chair was supposed to break-away when one of the actors slammed it across another actor's back. Suffice it to say, it didn't break. Later in the production, one of the actors sat in the chair and it collapsed under his weight and we all as a dutiful, kind, understanding audience were determined not to laugh at it and just pretend like nothing unusual had happened...until I got 'the church giggles' in the deadly quiet theater. So, ever wonder how to get kicked out of an off off Broadway production? That's how!

Head injuries are scary! An acquaintance of mine fell on a wet floor (at Walmart, no less) and was dead within 24 hours. This happened about a month ago.
Head bump is NO JOKE...always get it checked.
