Blink 182's Tribute To DJ AM
Blink 182 dedicated their show in Hartford, CT last night to their friend DJ AM who passed away a couple of days ago. They took a moment of silence and later handed out his CDs to the crowd.
Earlier in the day, Travis Barker, who survived a plane crash with DJ AM, Twittered his feelings:
"Don't know how I am gonna play 2night but I am for AM. My brother is gone. I love u and miss u, I'll never forget all the good times we had.I'll never forget everything we've been through and every time I play the drums, I'll think of you. U were an amazing friend/DJ/human being.
Rest in peace, my brother. This really fucks me up."
DJ AM's cause of death is still not known. His autopsy was completed on Saturday, but the results were inconclusive. The Medical Examiner's office in NYC needs to do more tests and said that it could take several more weeks before they can officially rule a cause of death. Why does it feel like we're always waiting around for toxicology reports? This is not how anyone wanted to spend their summer.
There are several reports going around that the cops found a crack pipe in his room and also a bag of crack in his sweat pants, but none of that has been confirmed.

Does no one find this whole thing suspicious? Adam was sober for ten years. He had a show coming up about helping addicts and suddenly he starts using crack again? I don't buy it. I think there has been foul play and someone planted that stuff to cover it up.
I would hope one who uses drugs should know by now how to dose themselves and what they can handle. I used to use and Ive never OD'd, I know my body and what it can handle...people that overdose are the ones who just take anything and everything not even knowing what the hell it is. I would never and never have taken anything that I dont know of. That is called a garbagehead.
If someone offers you something and you take it not knowing what the hell it is, then by all means you deserve to die. Do your homework, consider, body weight, tolerance, etc. If you do it right, you wont die or going into overdose where you need a shot of Narcan, some people are such idiots. Unless homeboy was smoking 1/3 ounces in one hit, then that will do some damage to your heart, but if you are doing it rather casually and not to the point where you cant breathe, your going to be okay.
Still no sympathy for the rich junkies.

provolone> Not necessarily. I know an ex-addict. I grew up in the same house with him. He didn't start using out of BOREDOM. Trust me on that one. I'm just lucky I didn't take the same path.
And luckily for him, he's turned his life around: he's a highly intelligent, funny, and loving person who made a mistake & then got physically addicted. If he'd died from an OD should I have said, "Who cares?!!? He's just a junkie! blah blah"?
who cares? he chose... the end...next junkie...there'll be another one..mk is right..all we do these days is wait for toxicology reports on these dumb asses.

Well, you mentioned you had issues with substance abuse. I'm assuming that these statements your making are conclusions that you came to about yourself. Or maybe even someone near you. But to assume that everyone is having the exact same life experience is just ...well, narcissistic. We're all having different experiences. We're all viewing the world in different ways. We're all feeling differently about different things. To assume you know what every single substance abuser in the world is going through is like saying your omnipotent.

No, its because they are bored. They are bored with life. Addicts need to either need to hit rock bottom or need their teeth kicked in(metaphorically). They are babies and will act such with their attention grabbing antics.

People become addicts for a reason...b/c they're in either mental or physical pain, that includes people who overeat. That's what I try to keep in mind when something like this happens & that's why I can feel empathy for the person.
We never know someone's whole situation or the depths of his/her pain. We can't, even if we've been in a similar situation...that's why I choose to give them the benefit of the doubt. Sure, they probably should have never shot up or whatever in the first place, but they obviously weren't thinking that at the time. They just wanted the pain to go away. I don't think that should be held against them indefinitely. People screw up; we're fallible.
