If you didn't catch the season premiere of Frankie & Neffe on BET last night, then do yourself a huge favor and yell at your Tivo to get on it! To celebrate the premiere of their show, Frankie & Neffe threw themselves a party in Atlanta last night. Frankie, who is a former(?) crackhead and Keyshia Cole's mother, is known for acting the fool wherever she goes, but these are pictures are just...DAMN! Why does it look like Maryann from True Blood got the shakes and gave them all the fever?
And there's only 3 people who can pull off a cut-out zebra catsuit over jeans with a sparkly fannypack/belt. They are: Frankie, Noah Cyrus and every single Glittery Gay of YouTube.

Isn't it strange. I can't even hold a straight face while reading their Book. But damn if they aren't more sincere and live by good principles than some other popular religions here. I really admire their sense of family and community.

Besides the Book, Mormons rule! My Mormon friends have thousand of well behaved kids who embrace my girls as if they were their own siblings. They are polite, sincere, courteous, and genuine people. They live the "a community raises a child" philosophy. They are ridiculed by the community, which makes me like them even more. I can't hate. :)

JZFSH I see, and I totally get what you say about the "ART" thing, it makes me sick too... Boston is a pretty diverse city, you find every color of the rainbow regarding Cultures.

I was in Southeast Asia. Part of it has to do with I was raised in a liberal university town with friends into all kinds of art. I am now in Texas in a place where it is very conservative, business oriented, and art is something you buy at walmart. It is a matter of finding the right opportunity and moving. I really like the upper east coast.

I was born and Raised in Argentina. Life is a lot simpler there,but when i moved here, i wasn't thinking about money or material stuff. I wanted to know a different culture and i had friends in Boston at the time,so it wa smy choice, i have learn so much about others here in the States and I truly love it and I consider it my Home. but it also has helped me decided I do not want to bring children to this world, life is so supperficial seriously it makes me sick. ( not only here, everywhere)

It is so interesting to read these comments. After 10 years overseas, I am wondering what I have brought my kids back to. We just put my youngest in preschool today and there was more discussion about lock-down procedures, food allergies, and daily disinfecting this and that than there was on teaching or being a kid.

Heardat. I've been watching childcare facilities go down the drain for the past 10 years...we had a short stint where we realized the importance of play and caregiver attentiveness and so on and then it all turned into a fiasco as they got bigger and less personal...
Fer instance, at this school we passed by - It had a bike rack and just above it a sign that read: NO BIKES. We tried to take a picture of it and a bunch of teachers(?) ran over and said we couldn't take pictures of the school as it could endanger the children. WTF? We were taking a picture of one outside wall of a school! Jeez Louise.

Men/women before our time had to deal with a lot; so for that I have HUGE respect for them. I completely understand. Just keep your kid in all knowing about a lot of things. Just because someone doesn't have a television/cellphone doesn't mean they are less than us. In order to help others, the other person needs to give a hope that they will succeed and want to move forward. Why I am in CR? Yeah I had everything in the USA materialistic wise, but what about...that self being,for that I came back to CR and I've gone through a lot but I am strong. aslong as you tell your kid that you are proud of them...but not making them believe they need to be perfect is important.

We came back to the US to be closer to my family and friends, but friends have all moved to different place, new friends are almost impossible to make, and my family barely ever visits. Overseas we had family visits every day and it took only 15 minutes to arrange a 4 generation reunion. Family mattered and life was simple.

I agree with you on "at least they are not here to see this fuckery", My Dad was an amazing Radio Host (the reason for me doing it too) he was smart, funny, very talneted, had a voice that would made a ho wet her panties and worked his ass off to support our family until he got sick and then it was my Momma's turn.

@Chirio: I try to tell my kid, all the time, about how things used to be, and how they came to be the way they are now. And I teach her to think outside of these boxes. It's actually pretty fulfilling to know that you're putting a fresh, young mind into the world that's aware and ready to fight the good fight, you know? I explain about the domino effect - you may think your tiny contribution is nothing but it DOES help, at least, in some small way.
But I get you - I'm so frustrated too cuz WTH is happening?! Everyone is so stressed out and afraid to make changes they KNOW they should...in N.A. we have all the opportunity one could hope for to make the world a better place and instead we waste our time thinking about how to get rich and famous.
