Ricky Martin is the father of twinsies, born via a leased baby oven, and today he Twittered a picture of one of his babeh's first baths! Sweet. But it looks tiring. Do you really have to hold the baby AND pour a plastic cup full of water over their head at the same time? Ugh. I'd rather just fill that cup with vodka and go have a DRANK somewhere quiet. Hmmm...I wonder if baby shampoo makes a good mixer?

one- he's probably not wearing a shirt because
1. he may not want to get it wet
2. most people who have kids are aware of the fact that babies need skin on skin contact- it's reccommended.

after hearing a story from my neighbor yestday about a little girl that *may* be her granddaughter and what happened to her (her white trash of an alcoholic mother drove her while sloppy drunk over 100 miles and crashed the car and left the little girl injured on the porch of a stranger and WALKED AWAY) there really shouldnt be any reason why a qualified PERSON couldnt take custody and adopt a child in need.

karen, I don't want to wish this on you but I hope when your daughter is 22 years old dating a guy who is great turns out to be a closet homosexual who was raised by gay parents but was confused but just uses your daughter as a jumping ground until he figures out he is actually gay or bisexual or just want your daughter to accept his bisexuality and have kids for him too, to repeat the cycle. I hope mk is around 20 years from now so I can know how you, husband and daughter feels and explain away how much time and energy was wasted or not.

Wow PVP - you do make some valid points. I feel like I am talking to my sister....
If you love your children, you don't leave them in the care of nannies, except for the times you parade them around in decorative masks or dangle them from balconies. If you love your children, you keep a clear head and aren't zonked out on drugs most of the time. If you love your children, you give them a normal life, and if you think you cannot do that, you don't purchase them.
I have absolutely no idea why anyone would say "Michael Jackson's children" or "his children." If he is not biologically related to them, nor ever legally adopted them, they are not his children as far as I'm concerned, except in the court of Entertainment Tonight.

I agree with you about celebs using babies as props but I don't believe all of them do it. I commented myself that Ricky looked hot in the picture and didn't stop to think about him "posing". As for Angelina, that would explain her gaunt look and I always thought that she was trying to fill a void in her life so that is why she surrounds herself with so many kids (I also thought that about Mia Farrow). As for Michael Jackson, I think he was so wrapped up in a fantasy world that he didn't know normal if it hit him in his fake nose, but I do believe that he loved his children and they weren't props.
First of all, there are many comments here, mostly positive, about gay men adopting. But Mr. Martin would undoubtedly ask, "And your point is...?" Ricky is not out. No, I'm not making that up.
That said, a few years ago, a newly married couple breathlessly announced to the press how much in love they were, were about to adopt a child, and would eventually adopt one child from each continent. The couple? Liza Minnelli and David Gest. Again, I'm not making that up. My point is that ever since Joan Crawford- perhaps before even- celebrities who have no particular interest in children (even Crawford's friends said she LOATHED children) have been using babies and children for props, p.r. and photo ops, especially to soften harsh images. Angelina is a good example. If you didn't know, she used to drink blood as an aperitif, and has yet to kick her heroin habit. Using third world nations as her Wal*Mart for baby shopping takes our minds off that. She is not the only drug addict who hid behind wall-to-wall babies. Witness Michael Jackson.
So my problem with Ricquito adopting is not that gay men shouldn't adopt, or they present a risk to young boys, but rather, I question his motivation, especially seeing this very staged picture, shirtless, flexing a bit. I question Madonna's mindset as well, and I could list others. But I give props to Oprah Winfrey as someone who could have adopted an army of kids to prop up her hetero image, but chose instead to just contribute to schools and foundations, sparing the kids the despair and confusion of a
strange, unhealthly home life... again,
witness Mr. Jackson. Am I wrong?

A parent can be any one that is prepared to love, nuture and teach a child to be a productive and caring adult. Straight, gay, single, married. There is no perfect model of what a parent is, other than someone who can give unconditonal love.
I agree with your statement. Although I'm not gay I do believe that the kids can be brought up to be loved and cared for by a gay couple as well as any good straight parent...the rest of the world has to catch up though...and it still could take a while.
good luck race. i was moved by your post. i am from north carolina the one state where that horrible man adopted a child for the sole purpose of abusing/molesting him.he happened to be gay. horrible people are horrible people. they come in all races, nationalities, sexual orientations, etc, sexuality is such a small part of a persons life. after about 15 years of drug abuse i finally starightened up and got on the right path. i'm straight and my husband and i had a little girl, she just turned two.she is the light of my life. so glad i never had any kids while i was using. i love being a parent and wish i were financially able to have another child or adopt. 2 would be great! i wish you and your partner happiness and fulfillment as being dads to your own kids. it will happen for you , i know this. thankfully attitudes are changing in the world towards people ( who happen to be gay)also, after extensively discussing gay marriage with my hairdresser ( i know, such a cliche) i fully support it and know if will come to pass in my lifetime. god bless you guys!
