Walter Cronkite Has Passed Away
Oh no. 2009 is not doing us right! Another legend has passed. Walter Cronkite went off to the great big newsroom in the sky today at the age 92. Walter's family said he died at 7:42 tonight in New York. Walter's cause of death is not known yet, but a few weeks ago his family said he was suffering from cerebrovascular disease.
Walter was the anchor on the CBS news from 1962 to 1981. He delivered news of the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963 and also announced the first moon landing in 1969. Walter would end each broadcast with his signature line: "And that's the way it is."
Walter is survived by his three children and his many grandchildren.
May Walter rest in peace..... He will always be an American icon and will forever be missed.

yeah TV, Nancy Grace is embarrassing. Even though she's on HLN, I consider her an entertainer more than anything else.

He DIED, he didn't fart. Please do away with this white trash phrase of "passing". There is nothing wrong or harsh about the word "DIED". Who started this crap????
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Some of us don't mind "passing" (don't know where you get that it is white trash)...remember, that is just your opinion.
Damn, leaves us with the likes of Anderson Cooper and Nancy Grace in the field of "journalism". May as well stop paying attention now. RIP to an actual journalist.

Oh, my. He was the voice and the face of the pivotal moments of the twentieth century. I remember him reporting on JFK's assassination and the moon landing, and in a flack jacket in Vietnam. He truly was Uncle Walter, the most trusted man in America.
R.I.P Mr. Cronkite. There will never be another one like you.
thinking on his passing , is like losing a member of your family, a trusted uncle or grandfather...mourn his passing but celebrate his incredible life!
ty MK , even my sister whose tied to her pc didnt know this.

aw HELL no. Not surprising considering his age, but it's getting harder and harder to lose good people on this planet.
My condolences to his family :(

From Wiki:
Cronkite trained himself to speak at a rate of 124 words per minute in his newscasts, so that viewers could clearly understand him. In contrast, Americans average about 165 words per minute, and fast, difficult-to-understand talkers speak close to 200 words per minute.
Cronkite was married for nearly sixty-five years to Betsy Maxwell Cronkite, whom he married on March 30, 1940. They remained together until her death on March 16, 2005.
Walter also played Benjamin Franklin on the PBS series "Liberty's Kids".
Is that a recent pic of him? I'd hit...
oh God, I need help :(

can you add a ex husband?
No, but you can. It's all wishing and hoping. :)
Fitting that he died on the 40th anniversary of the launch of Apollo 11.
Remember when Walter Cronkite was on the Mary Tyler Moore Show? Ted Baxter idolized him.
RIP Walter.

R.I.P. Walter.
You were, for years, voted the most trusted person in the US. You were probably the last person everyone could agree was trustworthy. Now, no one agrees on anything anymore.
RIP Walter.
I remember Walter Cronkite from when i was a very young girl, he was a comforting voice in a very big world to a child.
Any newscasters now pale in comparison. Even Anderson. Thanks Walter for many wonderful memories!
A journalist of intelligence, integrity and humanity, Cronkite will be sorely missed.
They don't make 'em like that anymore. RIP.
