Poor girl went through hell with the death of her mom (car accident on way to skating competition). If it's any consolation, she's doing well for herself now...she's an in-demand coach and she skates professionally from time to time.

Nicole has always been a very nice girl with an outstanding family. I sincerely hope that this is not true.

In November 1994, Bobek was charged with first degree home invasion after using an access code to enter a friend's garage and home. She allegedly took cash from a purse, only to be foiled when the house owner arrived (at which point she returned the money). She claimed to have been given permission to enter the house and retrieve the cash by another member of the household. Bobek was 17 years old at the time; under Michigan law, anyone 17 or older may be subject to adult criminal laws[1] and is no longer considered a minor for legal purposes.

She pled guilty under Michigan's Holmes Youthful Trainee Act, which directs defendants between 17 and 20 years of age to probation and counseling. If they complete their probation, they are excused from a more permanent charge and given a "clean" record, with all records of the prior charge sealed from the public.

On January 19, 1995, Bobek was given "youthful trainee" status, along with two years' probation and a choice between fifty hours of community service and thirty days in jail. Information regarding her case was soon leaked by the media and spread widely through skating circles, as well as in the news media at large. Under the Youthful Trainee Act, cases are to remain confidential; so on February 16, she filed for dismissal of her case (though journalists and legal scholars have argued that Michigan law allows journalists to release information about juvenile criminals if there is "compelling public interest," [2] which could be argued due to her status as a figure skater in world class competition). She was given a closed (private) hearing, where the trial court granted her motion for probation discharge.[3]

She was called the 'new Tonya Harding' back in her day. She broke into a friend's parent's home, broke into their safe, and stole their money. She was seen leaving their home.

She was just like Tonya. Cared more about sex, money, and parties instead of training & practicing. Played victim when the news was revealed but she is in fact a criminal.

Some crazy shit I remember from that case was the judge threw out her conviction (or guilty plea?) because the news got out to the press. Of course it got out! She was a well known figure skater who just committed a crime. It was so many years ago and I forgot the details.

I just got done watching that abortion of her Nagano SP to Zobra the Greek on YouTube. Her Olympic short program. The one where she fucks up her triple lutz, then her next jump, and a death by a thousand paper cuts.

Fassi died during the 1997 World Championships in Lausanne. Then his wife coached Nicole at Nagano. It's sad, but Nicole had time to get her act together for the Olympics.

Nope. She didn't win the short at Nagano.

I also remember why I have purged Lusanne circa 1997 out of my brain, that year Tara Lipinski and Elvis Stojko won. Gag and double hurl.

I remember going to this meth-heads apt. for some weed. It was a studio and he had tons of saws all over the place. Bench, Band, Circular, Chop w/ wood chips everywhere. My roommate asked what the hell all this was for...and the meth head did that 'dramatic chipmunk' turn w/ the wide open crack head eyes and said...."In the middle of the night, I like to make (dramatic pause) picture frames"

I have not such a good one:
I saw this poor girl once, she couldn't have been more than 14 or 15 and she was all smudged with dirt but dressed for clubbing. Her clothes weren't bad -and they were new. I think she'd just woken in the lane across from me where the street kids sleep in the summer... It was 6:30am am she was ranting and raving about someone took her purse with all the money she just made. There were these two guys just sitting (looking guilty to me)...I went off to do my thing in the park and when I got back she was full-on spasming. I did ask if she was ok...and the guys were like; Yeah, yeah - she's FIIIiiiIIINE!

And I went upstairs and called 911. I even came back so they could yell at me (we TOLD you she was ok!) becuz, OF COURSE altho I called for a medical emergency, they sent the police. Everybody knows that lane. I knew they would do that and I wanted them to know I called. I din't like the look of those guys and I wanted them to know they weren't invisible. But that girly - she was so fucking young and fresh. Almost fresh, just starting to spoil. Just tragic, man.

I was a huge Nicole Bobek fan. But watching her skate,I never knew whether to hug her or shake the shit out of her.

So much natural, God given talent. You could see that this girl had the technical goods to go all the way. But for some reason, she could NEVER get her shit together to skate alot of clean routines.

We had a skater here, who competed in the higher levels at several Olympics, called Josée Chenouard. She who was just like that. Angelic looking, technically very good, fantastic in warm-ups and would go out when it counted and just fold like a card table. Soooo disappointing.

Sweet Jeezbus. Talk about someone who had talent and pissed it all away. How many coaches did she finally have? Like 14? Had Nicole even partially screwed her head on straight, she could have been as big as Michelle Kwan. Though that flutz was a beauty to behold.

She was my favorite of the 90s skaters. Her combination of athleticism and grace was amazing. When she on, there was no one better, but she never had the confidence in herself she so desperately needed.
