Madonna's Tribute To Michael Jackson
Last night, Vadge opened the latest leg of her "Sticky & Sweet" tour at London's O2 Arena. This is the same joint where Michael Jackson was supposed to play a bunch of shows. Vadge honored MJ with a small tribute during her show.
In the tribute, one of her dancers dressed up as Michael Jackson and danced around while Vadge posed in the background. At the end, Vadge broke out her British ringmaster voice when she said, "Let's give it to one of the greatest entertainers the world has ever knooooown!"
I'll admit that when I heard Vadge was going to pay tribute to MJ in some way, I did get a little tingly. I thought Vadge would recreate her amazing performance of "Billie Jean" complete with her gorgeous 80s slutty wedding dress and dancers in white denim vests. Now THIS is a tribute:

That was LAME.
I would have been more impressed if she did the dance moves. That dancer ws just ugh. Sort of weird to have some lookalike come out. I don't know it was just offensive? CAn't think of the right word.
What was with the pictures? YOung BLACK Michael Jackson. What's the matter Vadge MJ from the 90's upwards wasn't as great? If you're going to tribute someone at least show a picture of the man how he looked not as he used to look. It's obvious he didn't like himself then. Respect his wishes.
Maybe I just really hate her and I'll find fault in anything.
Madonna is only trying to backtrack on all the bad shit she's talked about Michael over the years. Janet hates her guts because of all the shit she's said about Michael in the 90's.
I suspect that most rich people donate to charities primarily for the tax benefits, to improve their public image, and to feel better about their fortunate lives.
Good morning, lovelies. It seems as though the debate on MJ is still raging. *smacks flipper against forehead*
Michael was an innocent soul. Of course he committed sins throughout his mortal life, which people took advantage of. We forget that it is not our job to judge, it is God's, and Michael is with Him now. Our job is to let Michael be in peace for the first time.

bad joke.
Till this day there is no proof that Michael committed those acts. Michael had thousands of children come visit his ranch, why didn't all of them report the so called "violations"? In both cases the families were a bunch of losers.
****
That's easily explained.
(1) Predators are choosey about their victims. They pick the most vulnerable.
(2) For the exact reason you mentioned, so when he molests one or two he can point to the thousands of kids that visit his ranch that didn't make that claim.
(3) Molestation, particularly male-on-male, is often unreported. There is embarrassment, shame, and not to mention fear that anyone would believe the victim.

You're going to tell me that you would choose your kid reliving the abuse day in and day out just for the satisfaction of seeing MJ for a couple of years in jail before being released to molest other kids in his fancy ranch over receiving 20 million dollars and make sure your child will always be provided for and get everything he needs and deserves in his life
****************************************
IME, victims of abuse relive it daily anyway. What's done is done and it remains inside forever. What is really cool is for them to be able to share it and see that justice is done in the face of their pain. To have that reliving of the pain MEAN something at the end of the day. Really. And it's not like the kids are taken in there daily - there's a LOT of other things they have to do besides grill the children. And no - not me. I would make sure he never went near another child again. I couldn't live with myself otherwise.

I am not here to say what Michael did or didn't but, evidence speaks for itself. Funny how the first case they settled for money. Why the hell would they settle for money when they believed their son was molested?
---------------
How do you know what the "appropriate" thing to do in this cases is? Is it so common for you that non-molested kids receive 20 million dollars? I didn't know there was a protocol of procedures for kids who are molested by millionaire artists! You MJ fans are unbelievable. You get on your high horses and talk about how mean and "judgmental" people are because they talk shit about MJ without a proof. Do you have any proof that the kid was NOT molested? Has it ever occurred to you that perhaps the parents settled because they didn't want the kid reliving the abuse time and again? Aren't you being judgmental yourselves too? You're going to tell me that you would choose your kid reliving the abuse day in and day out just for the satisfaction of seeing MJ for a couple of years in jail before being released to molest other kids in his fancy ranch over receiving 20 million dollars and make sure your child will always be provided for and get everything he needs and deserves in his life? Vengeance over your kid's best interests? You have to keep in mind that it is not as if they would have locked MJ for life. Celebrities get preferential treatment and everyone knows it. He would have been freed for good behavior in the blink of an eye!

I just read some stuff about the child abuse case in wikipedia, and it says that he settled with the alleged victim's family. If he did abuse a little kid and they didn't care enough to lock him up, but did take the money and run. I don't believe them.
----------------------------------
The same could be said about MJ giving the family money. If he didn't abuse those boys and he didn't care enough to prove his innocence but did give them money and run. I don't believe him.
He should have just fought till the very end and prove his innocence if he didn't molest those kids.

So when Roman Polanski dies, am I going to have to suffer through a bunch of bullshit posts about what a great director he was and how Americans just tormented him over sex?
When Woody Allen dies, will his affair with his girlfriend's daughter be swept under the rug because he was a great director?
It's just amazing how celebrity just trumps all transgressions.
-----------------------------------------
I'm thinking "probably" in both of those cases, but I doubt that the reaction to their deaths will be anything like this reaction to Michael's with this long and drawn-out tribute process. Well, maybe it will be for Woody. Creepy pervert or not, he's an icon.
I do think it's interesting how the press handles scandalous celebrities after they die. Everything I read about Ike Turner after his death mentioned that he famously beat the shit out of Tina Turner.
The more journalistic write-ups I've seen about Michael have touched upon his weirdness and possible criminality as well as his musical genius. Michael meant a lot to a lot of people, but I don't think that the even-headed amongst us could really overlook the disturbing elements of his life in favour of remembering him as the pretty black kid who sang "Billie Jean."

All the people you listed and the allegations that were said about them, were actually TRUE. Woody married his adopted daughter, Roman Polanski pled guilty to having sex with a minor, and there was outstanding evidence. Till this day there is no proof that Michael committed those acts. Michael had thousands of children come visit his ranch, why didn't all of them report the so called "violations"? In both cases the families were a bunch of losers.
I am not here to say what Michael did or didn't but, evidence speaks for itself. Funny how the first case they settled for money. Why the hell would they settle for money when they believed their son was molested?
I am not even a big fan of Michael, but damn...people are going crazy over small BULLSHIT.
Maybe Michael gave so much to charity because he felt he had to make up for his other activities. Or because he needed some tax breaks and it was a win-win. If he gave $4 billion to cancer charities and molested 1 kid, I'd still be hard pressed to call him a great guy.
I think people just feel sorry for his fucked up childhood that they are willing to look beyond the obvious obsession he had with preteen boys and obsession he had with potent drugs used to put someone under.
Submitted by Gigi-A-GoGo on Mon, 07/06/2009 - 12:51am
I can't say one way or the other but for suspicion alone, I would hold him at arm's length around my children. If I had children. And I'm sure there's a lot of "evidence" on both sides that we don't know about -- that said, I think it is also a truth that he attracted bad people to him and surrounded himself with opportunists. Lisa Marie Presley basically said as much in different statements. He was easy prey because he seemed so needy... and in a way, he probably did it to himself, chose people who reinforced his earliest understanding of himself as Paycheck. That's my talk show psychology read of it, anyway.
I just read some stuff about the child abuse case in wikipedia, and it says that he settled with the alleged victim's family. If he did abuse a little kid and they didn't care enough to lock him up, but did take the money and run. I don't believe them.
People who really had something like that happen to their loved one, should want the perp to do real time in jail. Like the Nicole Brown Simpson family did. Receiving a settlement should be a last resort. It seems like people are persecuting MJ for being weird and not liking himself.
IF they didn't care to condemn him in a court of law and have the truth see the light of day, I'm sure not. Long Live the King of Pop.
I mean damn, even Oprah only donated about $300 million in her lifetime and we all know she's at least 3 times richer than MJ.

Charity King: Michael Jackson Holds Guiness World Record
July 1, 2009
As the world continues to mourn the loss of a great artist, the Guiness World Record book remembers Michael Jackson instead as the king of charity.
The Millenium issue listed the music legend under Most Charities Supported By A Pop Star, with a staggering 39 international organizations including the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the American Cancer Society. Those are only the known ones however, as Jackson was also prone to giving away impulsively and anonymously.
Jackson had been known to hand over the proceeds from concerts to local charities and hospitals as he did with the History tour in Bombay, or donate personal items for auction to organisations like UNESCO. It’s been estimated he may have given up to $500 million to charity in his lifetime.
In addition to his charity work, Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, had more Guiness world records than any other artist, including Most Successful Concert Series and Biggest Selling Album for Thriller.
---- try as you might, aint no erasing that from history. PERIOD.

As far as Michael Jackson's "positive music" well, he had a couple of songs that might qualify but please. Pretty young thing, rock with me, etc. Tons of pop bullshit with a song or two sprinkled wiht a message he clearly didn't believe in. I mean, come on. He did everything he could to abandon his race. He didn't want to be black, didn't marry black, and didn't want black kids. Whatever message he had he sure as hell didn't live it.

eh, Michael Jackson is dead, good riddance, he was scarred in a young age. I'm just happy he was prolific as an artist.
I enjoyed Billie Jean and Thriller, after the 90's I was sorry to hear the dude was a pedophile, but not surprised. his childhood was fucked up, but after 1990 his nose was a horrid disaster and the rest of him was a joke waiting to happen.
legend, most assuredly. I'll likely remember his music without trying to remember his weirdness.

I agree with you, really.
With MJ, I'm emotionally paralyzed. The allegations against him were never proven to MY satisfaction. The fact that he had boys in his bed...I mean, if he had cats in his bed (i mentioned this before) or liked to spend lots of time with the elderly (even sleep in their beds!) I just don't automatically go to the sexual becuz it's a bed. But that's personal. Something just doesn't jive with me. Some things. But it was never proven either way - so I don't know what to feel about it.
That he was a druggie. Who isn't? It seems like everyone is popping pills and getting surgery and taking injections and doing everything they can to keep from just manning up and facing life head on. I don't agree with it but I can't be too picky these days, really. I'd have to shun everyone. But, yes, it does bother me...it sounds like he was out of control. Being out of control is not cool in my mind.
Then I saw those pics - his kids looked happy and bonded. I only have pics to go by but, here, I go by them a lot. I hear the messages from his songs and I hear someone with some light and some hope. I see the passion with which he performed and I'm inspired.
And I know that there is a whole machine at work behind "Michael Jackson"...same as "George Bush" or "Barack Obama" I'm not talking conspiracy - it's just business. It's like - I look at a bank tower and I see thousands and thousands of offices working for one cause - "INSERT NAME HERE" Bank. And when I get mad at the bank, I realize I have no idea which one of those thousands of offices will handle my anger....but I digress, of course...MJ is not MJ alone, is what I mean to say.
How do I agree after all that? Well, it was collectively decided to shun the man in life. It's obvious that that's what was decided. Celebrating him in death doesn't make any kind of moral sense - it only makes money.
(And you know - people who didn't ever let him go could celebrate, sure, that WOULD make sense but it wouldn't be NEARLY as full-frontal as it is now.)

Love, you are not taking into account the fact that his death will be a huge boon to his estate and his benefactors will indeed be set for life from the profits made after MJ's death. As for the drugs, we all have our problems. Judge not lest ye be judged.
***
LOL.
Seriously, I'm not trying to be a jerk. I understand that there are many people who think he was just someone abused by his dad and ended up a tortured sole who never grew up and just loved kids.
But if MJ was the guy down the street who was just a great painter, but had some major weirdness going on and nothing but pre teen boys hanging out at his place, no one would be whitewashing everything the guy did because he was a great painter.
I'm just so tired of him being canonized. Even if you were a huge fan of his music, how can you not think sleeping with boys not strange and suspect? Or the fact he was apparently so drugged up that he had a Dr. living with him to inject him with painkillers. He was a junkie. He just was. What is disturbing is he was raising 3 kids while being a junkie. If Courtney Love dies right now, are we going to hear the world talk about what a great mom she was? I doubt it. What's the difference? Not much. Courtney at least never was accused of molesting a child.
Nice. Good work, Madonna. A nice little tribute to the King Of Pop.
