Open Post: Hosted By Amber Rose's Chia Pet Head

Tomorrow is the Fourth of July, so those of you that celebrate that shit should spend today preparing your liver and stomach for the fuckery that is to come. That's what I'll be doing all day (holy water colonics, etc....), so I'll only be posting here and there. This shit will return to its normal schedule on Moooonday. That's if I don't end up in the hospital after joining the legion of drunky dumb fucks who think it's really hilarious to stick a sparkler in your ass. Tempting....and completely possible.

Now I leave you with Kanye West's ballsack polisher, Amber Rose, outside of a club in Hollywood last night with some kind of fungus growing on her head. Stop the insanity!

I have done a lot of reading on this subject. You have done a brilliant job of explaining our economic crisis.
I read "Atlas Shrugged" about a dozen times, so bear with me.
"Whatever the market will bear" is a motto of a free economy. I believe there is the finest of lines between "profit" and "greed".
It is any business' BUSINESS to make money. From the lemonade stand to Wall Street.
Greed is not regulated to the rich. Isn't buying a house you know you can't afford greedy? Isn't giving all your money to the Bernie Madoffs who promise ridiculous profits in ratio to the investment a bit greedy.
While I agree with much of what you say, in the end, people need to be more responsible for their own decisions, and less dependent on the government to give them a "get out of jail free" card; from the CEO's, to the careless investors, to the irresponsible consumers.

Sandbitch,

That is what English hubby called it...only made with the turkey, his version of stuffing.

All I know is it is bloody brilliant and also makes your days after shepherds pie awesome!

Have not partaken of an Aussie hub, maybe I should make that a priority.

spotted dick is a dessert. it's this really rich, steam cake, hard to describe, but heaven on a plate.
it's spotted due to raisins. it has a ton of lard/butter and you serve it with this totally rich sweet syrup.
think uber pancake, pancake on crack.

we will have oven roasted brussel sprouts, parsnips and potatos, corn for the wussies, and broccoli with cheese.

The English breakie looks yummy, but I'd like some fried, (in the bacon grease), tomato with mine, and a little HP malt vinegar drizzled over it.

When I visited friends in Eton, years ago, they served me black pudding. I put every condiment they had on it, and finished it, but it was knarly.

They also turned me on to Scotch Eggs. Yum!

Event Horizon:

The thing that you don’t know about me is that I am going to school for multiple degrees at once. One of them is Political Science with a 4.0+ GPA, so to say that I don’t know what I am talking about is nonsense.

Although most say that the economic crisis we are in started with President Bush and some say it was Clinton, they are both wrong. This goes back all the way to the nineteen twenties.

In the nineteen twenties, the common person was able to buy stock for ten percent down, then sell the stock quickly for a profit, they paid off the balance and moved on to the next stock to buy. The higher the market went, the more people made money. Once the stock prices leveled out, the stocks were not selling as fast then people were not able to pay back the banks who loaned them the money. This caused the banks to collapse.

We didn’t learn from our mistakes. For years we were able to buy houses with ten percent down (sound familiar) then flip them making a profit. Wall Street saw an opportunity for making money after seeing how much money people were making on real estate and took the (good and bad) mortgages and rolled them into nice looking packages (derivatives) and sold them globally to investors. When the housing market crashed, the derivatives were basically worthless and because these were the foundation of many financial institutions it caused them to collapse. Wall Street knew that it was putting bad mortgages into those packages but greed kept them from doing the right thing.

Meanwhile, the politicians and activists were screaming that banks were wrongly denying loans to minorities (most in fact absolutely could not afford the houses at any amount). The politicians and activists forced the banks to give loans; sometimes suing the banks (our own President among others in office sued Citibank under the Community Reinvestment Act for this exact reason) to pressure the industry into giving out high risk loans. The politicians and activists pushed for affordable housing with what is called uncertainity.

Politicians insisted (and encouraged) the regulators into loosening their lending requirements. When the regulators figured out what was happening and tried to take back control of the banks they were reeled in and reprimanded by the politicians. The regulators with the encouragement of the politicians were willing to take the chance with lowering requirements for economic growth it’s called Risk.

The Fair Housing Act boasting the slogan “it’s your right” when it’s really a privilege to own a home didn’t help matters. The purpose of this act was to buy houses, no-one really thought about if the people who took the loans could pay it back.

Meanwhile, we have the rapidly growing economies of India, China and Indonesia and their need for energy/oil rose dramatically. Wall Street using their speculators saw an opportunity for money (greed) and made adjustments as if there was a shortage until oil prices were at an all time high despite our inventory levels of oil being the highest in almost twenty years. When gasoline prices skyrocketed, so did other costs. The whole thing snowballed and increasingly, people were suddenly not able to afford their homes and were living way beyond their means. People started using credit cards, taking out loans against their homes and soon they were defaulting on their financial responsibilities causing foreclosures. Had the government used the controlling method of management there would have been monitoring and making corrections as needed.

China, India, and Indonesia relied on global trading with the US and when the US stopped buying from them their demand for energy went down significantly. The drilling industry took a huge hit and came to a screeching halt.

That is why we are in the mess we are in.
